Thank you, Fist. Next time I'm in an early Greek mood, I'll make a special hunt for GATES OF FIRE.
Dorothy Dunnett deserves every line of attention I can give her. Those six titles are only the cream off the top. Some fans prefer her House of Niccolo series even more than the Lymond books. Lymond is a flamboyant aristocrat, Niccolo is a gifted apprentice. Both are hugely clever, and so is the author.
Right now I'm in an Alaska mood, hoping to clear a space in my schedule for it.
With a new stack of books on my desk from a Powells "giveaway sale,"

In the second post of this thread, I listed recommended sci fi/fantasy books for which I didn't have reviews. Now this one has a review:
THE MANY-COLORED LAND
www.reviewers-choice.com/the_many_colored_land.htm
Just reread it, and loved it all over again.

Another sci fi/fantasy book recommended above which now has a review.
THE GOLDEN TORC by Julian May
www.reviewers-choice.com/the_golden_torc.htm
Will move on to the next one in the series as soon as possible. I'm having too much fun with it.

Foul just reminded me of a book that has long been a favorite of mine. Copying over from Foul's thread:
THE CHOSEN by Chaim Potok. Totally lifelike story of two boys from opposing branches of Judaism, growing up together in New York City. I can't say enough for how completely these boys live. A unique element is given by Daniel's rabbi father, who has a special way of raising his genius son.

Finally got the third Pliocene Exile book reviewed: THE NONBORN KING. I listed the whole series above, among the Science Fiction books I consider outstanding, but for which I had no review at the time.

Amazon's always a good one for reviews! Here's a link to the first of the The Remillard Series. Julian May's books are one of my favorites as well!
Jack Chalker is also very good. Here are a link to a few of my favorite series:

My favorite Chalker is the Well World series, Creator. I recently reread MIDNIGHT AT THE WELL OF SOULS for relaxation, and am thinking about carrying on through the whole series. It's been a while.
Also, have you read THE FOUR LORDS OF THE DIAMOND? Excellent concepts in both series. I read FLUX AND ANCHOR three times. That's where I thought he started to get a little twisted about people changing sexes.

Early in this thread I recommended Julian May's THE ADVERSARY, but I didn't have a review to go with it. Now I do.
