I am an idiot

Post by timbley »

You know, I hunted around and hunted around for an official SRD website about a year or so ago and couldn't turn up anything.

Now, on frigging FARK.com of all places, I find out about the Last Chronicles, and from there I find this forum?

What the hell?????????!!! I loved The Chronicles when I was in high school (late 80's, early 90's) and this news has me floored almost as much as finding the SRD official website (and this forum, oh my gosh).

Am I completely stupid? How much of a well-kept secret is this place? I am rambling, incoherent, and swimming in shock and ecstacy. A new series??!! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!!!

Ok, time to calm down.

Welcome to the Watch!

I googled onto this site last September in much the same way that you describe. Prior to that I had no knowledge of the Last Chronicles, but was just as excited about it as you.

Let me invite you (and everyone else, for that matter) to take a look at the Dissecting the Land forum - we've reviewed every chapter of the first 4 books (including Gilden-Fire) and are in The One Tree currently. Based on your enthusiasm I bet you'd enjoy it tremendously!

Yes, Mighty Tim, even I found this place by accident!

Amongst a company of fools? (Idiots) I sure hope so!
I know that I am one...
I found this fantastic site by accident also.
(At first, I thought I was at a different site,
how's that for being an idiot?)

If it weren't for us idiots, this would be a dull world in which we live.
Welcome and well met, Timbley!
Have you hugged your arghule today?

Welcome. The official site has only been up for a few months, btw, though this place (Kevin's Watch) has been around a lot longer.

How long has the Watch been up? I myself only found it about two years ago. And before that, I think I was one of the few people who had an up-to-date SRD page on the net (since I've seen him ever year since '97 at WFC, so I was able to add new info about upcoming books).
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

Thanks for the welcomes!

Post by timbley »

Wow - what a great bunch of welcome messages...! I thank you all for your kindness and for letting me know that others found Kevinswatch accidentally also. I don't feel quite so bad now. :-)

I'm going to have to start re-reading the two trilogies now. It's been 12 years since I read them last, but they have always sat on my bookshelf as my "flagship" series. Whenever someone asked me for a suggestion for a good fantasy series, I always pointed them straight at The Chronicles. I even did an independent study on the six books for my English class when I was my last year of high school. I had to do a 30 minute presentation, and I focused on how each of the races in the series embodied one particular human characteristic (bloodguard = fidelity, elohim=wisdom, sandgorgon=rage/anger, etc...). I had to re-read all six books to do that presentation!!!

Anway, thank you so much for the welcomes - it's great to find this group!

Cheers

Welcome Timbley. New here myself and just as excited about the Last Chrons.

Found the news as I was surfing the web at work(Tut tut) and couldn't concentrate on anything else for the whole day. Still buzzing!

Doubt you've still got it if were talking early nineties but would be extremely interested in either seeing you study or further discussions on that topic.

If a topic like that already exists could someone point the way my Earthsight isn't what it used to be.

I'm still buzzing, also (and found the topic while surfing at work. It's okay, I surf out through an SSH tunnel to a private proxy, so the network admins will have a hard time finding out what I'm discussing... ;) )

I will see if I still have my notes on a floppy disk somewhere. This will be a fun adventure just trying to dig that up!!

Cheers

Found them!

Post by timbley »

Wow - I actually found my notes for my independent studies on The Chronicles. Looks like I did two different ones - a written one and an oral one. I will post the notes for both as soon as I transfer them from my trusty Apple II disks to PC (sometime tomorrow).

Any thoughts on where I should post them?

Thanks
Tim

Yeah, we can estimate that by how long Skyweir has been a member... I think she must be pushing five years now :o

Welcome, Timbley. Make yourself at home.
