Welcome to the Watch. :D

While I do love TIW, (my favourite in the 1st Chrons) I think The Wounded Land is my overall favourite, especially in terms of the impact it had on me. :D

An interesting story. I am a pharmacist. In 1978 I passed a bookstore every night when I left work. Every time I passes the fantasy section, a little red book kept tugging at my pants leg. Finally, I went to the check out and purchased Lord Foul’s Bane. I’m a slow reader and it took me two weeks to read it. The Illearth War took a week. I read the Power That Preserves in one day. I took book one to my best friend and told him the series was one of the best examples in literature I had ever read. His response flat out was “I don’t read fantasy, period!” I left the book there, but about a month later I heard this loud pounding on my back door at two in the morning. I went to see what the heck was going on. There was my best friend with his hair sticking up and this desperate look in his eyes. “Where is the second book!” I gave him two and three. I didn’t need some nut job pounding on my door at two in the morning anymore. What’s interesting is that he had the same reactions from people he loaned the books to and so on and so on. The trickle down effect was massive. You’re welcome Stephen, for spreading the love.

Be Welcome to the Watch, schwad.
Be Welcome and True.

We have one active doctor of pharmacy on the Watch, and another pharmacist across the pond who used to be active. We may have more, but those are the two of which I'm aware. It will be nice to have the POV from another in the field.

Re-reading TCTC so I can read the final chronicles.

Post by ejm0101 »

Read the first and second chronicles in my youth and loved them. When I became aware of the final chronicles I wanted to dive in right away but decided to revisit the first two before doing so to reacquaint myself with The Land.

I don't know if this has been asked. I know the Watch had slowed down in the last couple decades, but how is SaraPoulsen the last person to join the Watch, 8 months ago???

I was just checking the statistics myself. Looks like something happened a year ago, September 2021, when new posts dropped by half and then stayed at that level. The number of posts per month have been more than 20 times higher than they are now.

Been contemplating a re-read of the full chronicles. Made me think of the awesome Kevin’s Watch!

I'm at that point too. It's been too long since I've read how awesome Lord Mhoram is.
