Moulin Rouge

Post by Haruchai »

Did you like it? Hate it?
The first time I saw it, I didn't like it at all. But know that I have watched it again, I love it.
I decided to give it another shot because my favourite actor, David Wenham, was in it. However, he was in the show for a grand total of a bout 2 minutes. :( But I decided to keep watching anyhow, and I really enjoyed it.
My favourite character was probably Tullus (sp?) he was pretty funny, and the duke was funny sometimes.
So, what did you think?

I've only seen it once, and I was left with the impression that I'd seen a decent enough film, but during the film itself I had a lot of "What the hell is this?!" moments. I probably liked it more after it finished than I did while I was watching it.

I did not like it, but most of my friends who did like it said that they had to watch it a couple of times to really appreciate it. I suppose I should give it another chance.

I didn't expect to like it at all but I finally got talked into watching it and I really really enjoyed it. Not sure exactly what it was about it I enjoyed so much but compared to some of the musicals about I found it good. Maybe it was the more modern soundtrack.

I've ranted about Moulin Rouge in another thread, but I'll sum it up here by borrowing one of film critic Roger Ebert's favorite phrases:

"I HATE, HATE this movie!"

(As for Mr. Ebert himself, don't know his opinion of the movie.)

I like it a lot. I especially like the part **SPOILER** when he's speaking the lyrics of Your Song as she's pretending to be soooo incredibly turned on, and then he starts singing and she... Well, her reaction is extreme, eh? :)

But the rest of the movie was certainly fun, weird, funny, romantic, tragic...

I liked the movie, myself. It was more interesting for its visual effects than for its music, but it was a decent enough musical.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

I loved that part. 8)

I was really surprised that the guy who played the Duke was the Vampire in Van Helsing, he looked totally different.
The unconcious Argentinian was funny. :D

Truly (in parts), it was like ingesting psychotrophics... please not e that my experience is limited only to first-hand accounts of such.

I tried watching the movie, then I saw the "Smells like Teen spirit" routine. Maybe I just don't like musicals. I still cring when I think about "Paint your Wagon". It's the only Eastwood movie I didn't like.

Yeah... I think they should have left the "Smells like Teen spirit" part out of it... but it was good anyways...
