He brought a tear to my eye in the first thirty pages. I seriously doubt if it will be the last.
My favorite author writing in my favorite sub-genre. It just doesn't get any better than that.
And Whelan's first full-page illustration - AWESOME!!!!

I'm only at page 120, I'm savoring it, this is our last.
But Lordy, is it good!!!
And the artwork! Whelan's first two full-page illustrations are magnificent. He should win this year's Hugo for those works alone.

My God, I've never cried over a book like that! I've teared up before lots of times, (I'm a big girl like that... ) but I mean, we're talkin' multiple snotty tissues....A Gunslinger wrote:Old Darth wrote:Finished it. Loved it!
Me too! We should discuss!
I wept twice.....
Oh Roland! His last line tore my heart out! To hear Roland of Gilead, stoicism incarnate, say those words.....
I haven't decided if I love the end or hate it.....I do think it was appropriate....but I don't think it was the only way to go......and it seems so unfair!!
I'll have to reread after a little distance......that was a VERY intense book....

Ageed. I stayed away from the watch precisely so that I would not reval anything or have to discuss it myself.
The 1st wasn't as bad as the second, if you follow me. When the second occured, it was as though I'd been kicked in the stomach....I just refused to beleive it (though deep down....)
AAAHHH!!
