Generally, you create a thread for each piece of your work, if you want to post a short story, say, or a poem or three. If you have a really long piece, though, it's acceptable to break it up into chunks (or chapters) and create seperate threads for each part. Furls has a wonderful Novella in here somewhere called The Creed, that is broken up into 5 or 6 parts, as I recall, due to it's length. :D

It makes it easier for people to read it, when it is long, if its broken into pieces, with different chunks in different threads. For a great example of this, look for Furls Fire's story called "The Creed". :)

It's harder reading long stories on a computer than on paper, for some peopel anyway (me included). :)

What happened to the Fifty-five Word Short Story thread?
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I shall go hunting for it...it's always possible it got moved over to Mallory's by accident when I moved the game threads over there. If so, I will ask Furls or Damelon to toss it back. :)

edited to add: I can't find it in either forum. I do not know where it is or what happened to it.

I saw something like it in the Close of all places, earlier---I'll go check again. Edit: yup it's there under Lord Foul--may be a brand new one tho...

Yeah, that's a new/completely unrelated thread--just happens to use the same word limit for its purpose.

I scrolled through the Hall too, and I don't know what happened to the 55 word short story thread. I may have accidentally deleted it when I was cleaning up my 1000 different poem threads, but I honestly don’t recall deleting it specifically. Weird.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I remember it being moved to Mallory's, something I was a slightly annoyed at. Too bad, too bad.

Finally, another corner on the 'net I can call home!

Forgive my ignorance (I am a n00b), but what kind of poetry is acceptable? Are there certain no-no's to post (e.g. language, erotica)?

TIA

Yeah, since this is a family board (or so our admin says ;) ), anything that's overtly porn might be iffy. I wouldn't mind, though. ;)

As far as profanity, KW is pretty lax. Lots of cuss words go unnoticed or uncensored here. Shit, even "ass" is fine. Still, don't go too crazy with the sailor lingo.

Thanks, just trying to get a feel for what is acceptable here. I sometimes write suggestive things, but get paranoid posting them in a place I'm not accustomed to.

Welcome Furls as the new mod! I think it's long overdue. She always felt like a huge presence on this board, nevermind KW!

I hadn't noticed who was modding here. Yeah, seems like a good idea to have the two of you, eh?

Woo-hoo!

However...

Seems to me the more this storm rages, the more commitments Furls takes on instead of recuperating...

*shakes head bemusedly*

:hugglessss: Furls.
