Post by Baradakas »

In the beginning of A Game of Thrones, when

Spoiler
the Starks find the direwolf pups, they find the mother wolf dead. Everyone seems to freak, when they find the antler in its neck... Why?

I've read this book twice now, but I cant figure out why the adults were so upset about this....

"Mostly muffins sir."- My answer in response to the question posed by the officer, "Son, do you have anything on you I should know about?"

His response: "Holy $&!^. He's not kidding! Look at all these muffins!"

Spoiler
The direwolf is the symbol of House Stark. The stag is the symbol of House Baratheon. The fact that the mother wolf was killed by a stag, as per the antler in her throat, is seen as symbolic.

Now think about what happens later in the book to one of the wolf parents, as a result from service to the stag...
Love as thou wilt.
