Least Favourite Musicians

Post by Sheriff Lytton »

I'm willing to start the ball rolling by offering the following information:

Laurie Anderson's "O Superman" really sucks. Eight and a half minutes of someone going "Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba". In Britain it got to number two in the singles chart purely on the strength of it being the longest single ever released. That was when I knew. It didn't matter if I voted or not, there was no chance.

There are so many, but the first two that come to mind (only bands, forgive me).

Linkin' Park
Rush (seriously, what is it about "Today's Tom Sawyer" that makes people think this song should've lasted 2 years, much less 20?)

Hmmm, some more

Evanescence
Any of the so-called "Punk" bands these days
Anybody off of American Idol

Oh yeah, American Idol? Yeah. All of that.
Most rap too.
Yeah. Pop Punk. Bad idea.
Start where you are,
use what you have,

Except for a select few, a very select few--most rap artists--especially the murderers (you know who you are) who make millions off kids.

Lord Foul, you have no idea how pleased I am to discover that the Despiser himself is a Rush fan. (Ironic that a thread I started for a laugh wound up getting one of my all time top 3 bands slated immediately.)

Now I know I'm evil

You're persuasive, danlo. Rap in general rubs me the wrong way, too. Sometimes I wonder if it's a quasi-mafia posing as legit entertainment, when you consider the turf wars among rappers that have resulted in shootings. John "Godfather" Gotti would be proud. At best, these rap "artists" are poseurs. At worst, they are--as you say--murderers.
