That list eerily resembles VH1's list from a few years ago. "No Satisfaction" was VH1's number one, with "Respect" coming in at #2, I think. Oh well, I guess they have nothing interesting in today's music industry to talk about, so they're making lists.

I said ROCK song, not greatest song. There is a difference. I feel that Achiles Last Stand does everything a rock song needs to do. ROCK! Stairway is a great song, but it just doesn't rock like Achiles does.

Hehe. You got me. Good one.

I would have to say that Won't Get Fooled Again by the Who is up there with Achiles... Damnit look what you made me do.

1) Achiles Last Stand- Led Zeppelin
2) Wont Get Fooled Again- The Who
3) I want You (Shes So Heavy)- The Beatles
4) Just - Radiohead
5) Comfortably Numb- Pink Floyd

These are the songs I always turn up to max volume when I am cruising.

6) Two Step- Dave Mathews Band
7) The Pinball Wizard - The Who
8) Paranoid Android- Radiohead
9) 2+2=5- Radiohead

Look what you made me do! I can't stop myself!

Excellent picks, though I've never heard Two Step (or maybe I have but don't recall it).

On second thought, my favorite rocker would be Helter Skelter (overall, Starless is still my favorite song, but it has some slow parts). My second favorite rocker would be "Dancing Days", by Led Zep.

Great, now I've been tossing this around all day.

I think Achilles is the greatest song by a rock band, technically excellent, just brilliant, and, if I only had one song on the proverbial desert island, it would be it. But....

If we're talking about songs that ROCK, I chose differently. I realize that these songs are wildly unpopular now, but hey, they rock.

1. Rock of Ages-Def Leppard

2. Nothing But a Good Time-Poison

3. We Rock-Dio

4. You Really Got Me-The Kinks and Van Halen

5. Crying in the Rain-Whitesnake

If we're talking about fist in the air, driving too fast, ear-bleeding volume, you can't go wrong with this stuff. Not great music per se, but if you want to get rowdy and loud, you can't go wrong with a lot of the 80's stuff.

Oh yes. My pick. "My Generation" by the Who has to be the 'greatest' rock song, though it's not my favorite. It just shows everything that rock is (well, was) and should be. It just kicks so much ass.

For me it has to be "The Grudge" by Tool. Nothing else even comes close.

(Waiting for someone to say "hey - that's metal, not rock")

She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. Thanks for the Rolling Stone link, Lord Mhoram. I shake my head at Bob Dylan being at the top (what is it with this guy?), but the list makes for a good resource all the same. I'll be poring over it for the next little while...
