I bought "This Day All Gods Die" And here's hoping I don't need to read all the others again just to figure out what's happening

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I have never actually considered SRD to be the top author of catchy titles, but "This Day All Gods Die" is quite good. My favorite is "The Illearth War" though, it almost makes you want to read the book just to figure out what the title is all about.
However I think Roger Zelazny is better with his titles, some examples:
"Nine Princes in Amber"
"To Die in Italbar"
"The Doors of his face, the lamps of his mouth"
"Jack of Shadows" (I want that book )
"Lord of Light"
"This Immortal" aka "Call me Konrad"
I feel that there is something undefinably catchy about Zelazny's titles. SRD's titles really mean something but just AFTER you have read the books. (Just what exactly IS Lord Fouls Bane anyway?)

Re: FINALLY !!!
It's been a while since I read the Gap series. Perhaps while I'm waiting for Storm of Swords, I can do a quick reread. But then I would have to find my misplaced copy of The Real Story.Vain wrote:I bought "This Day All Gods Die" And here's hoping I don't need to read all the others again just to figure out what's happening
