Phantom of the Opera

Post by dlbpharmd »

Phantom finally makes it to the big screen Wednesday Dec 22nd (in selected cities.)

My wife and I have seen Phantom on tour twice and absolutely loved it (although not as much as Les Mis.) Needless to say, we're very excited about this movie, and have already lined up the sitter so we can go see it on the first night.

Any other Phans out there?

OH Phantom is my favorite!!! Russ and I went to New York back in the 80's and saw the original cast on Broadway with Michael Crawford and Susan Brightman. It is the most beautiful play I have ever seen!!

We are definately going to try to see the movie. Might not get to in the theater because it's only going to be released in "selected cities", which I don't understand at all, but we will definately get the DVD when it comes out.

I have the original London cast soundtrack and play it all the time. The music is just gorgeous!! I heard that there are going to be two new songs added to the movie. Just like with Evita. :)

Anywhere you go, let me go too,
Love me, that's all I ask of you...

And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

It would have been great to see Crawford and Brightman together!

Here's a link to the official movie site, where you can follow another link to see if it's being played near you:

Yes, its playing a few miles from my house! :D :D :D

Saw it on stage once with a touring company that came to Detroit. While its not my all time favorite show (Les Mis, The Producers, and Rent would probably both beat it), I thought it was very enjoyable. 8) I have a couple of days off next week -- maybe I can sneak in a show time. :)

Furlsy, Duchess - you must see this movie. Go to the best theater in your area, with the best surround sound, sit back and enjoy. You will be blown away.

I don't know when I've ever been so impressed by a movie.

Emmy Rossum was absolutely stunning. Gerard Butler takes a little bit of getting used to, especially if you've ever listened to Crawford. But physically, he's a damn good Phantom.

I look forward to hearing your comments!

dlb- Saw it on Broadway back in the 80's and loved it. You're right- it is second only to Les Mis in my book! Can't wait to see the movie, although I am skepitcal about it. Nothing can capture the mystery and majesty of the stage production.

Drew, there have been several "Phantom" movies over the years. This movie is the film version of ALW's Broadway musical.

Kym - please keep an open mind. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have just come back from watching Phantom (it just opened here in SA in the last week or so). I saw a made for tv version when i was a child, but this was fantastic! My mother has the original Broadway Soundtrack on LP and i really think they did the music justice. And in the opinion of a 21 year old male (i guess not the usual to be watching this kind of thing), it was great!

Just rented it last night...WOW

I saw it on stage about 10 years ago; this comparers greatly---I was still singing along with the songs--think I'll buy it someday soon.
