I'd be more than a little surprised if anyone's ever heard this. His name is Jeffrey Gaines. He was opening for Melissa Etheridge about 10 years ago. I was working in a music store, and he came in to sing a few songs while they were in the area during the tour.

<I>Dido and Aeneas</I>, by Henry Purcell, a Brit from the 1600's. Libretto by Josiah Priest. My favorite opera. Possibly because it's only about an hour long But pretty amazing stuff, though.

The overture is a "French Overture", for reasons of tempo and rhythm. It was my introduction to Baroque music. It's only around 5 minutes, but is one of my favorite pieces.

And <I>Dido's Lament</I>, her death song, is kinda indescribable.
