Seabiscuit

Post by Fist and Faith »

I was gonna comment in this thread, and found there wasn't one.

I've possibly never been more surprised by a movie. I've never watched a horse movie, and didn't particularly plan to. But I was snowed in at work one day, and the woman I was with said it's really good. She likes a lot of the movies I've brought in (CTHD, Brotherhood of the Wolf, and a bunch of less action-packed stuff), so I trust her taste.

I'm in love with the movie! Big recommendation. Great story all the way through. And the big race was awesome!!!

I love that movie, too. :) It's as much about the humans in the horse's life as about the horse himself. :)

I thought it was a pretty profound and uplifting film about making your own family, finding (platonic) love with others no matter the differences in your backgrounds, about never giving up no matter how awful life can be. :)

The movie was excellent. The book was a level of magnitude better. Seriously. If you loved the movie you'll be stunned by the book.

Take the time to read it. The movie has to pack the events into a 2 hour narrative but the events that actually transpired are even more amazing than you could imagine.

Read the book! I'm giving it the "Official Brinn Guaranty". If you don't like the book I'll give you your money back! ;)

Well, Brinn's book recommendations go a looooong way with me (hmm, been a while since I bumped the Gates thread), so I'm in. The woman I mentioned above also said it was great.

Hey, Brinn, let's just say I don't like the movie OR the book, so go ahead and send me the money so I can buy them both.

The check is on the way. Now, did you go to a matinee or was it a regular priced ticket?

I read the book long before I saw the movie, and would definately back up Brinn's recommendation of it. :D Both the movie, and the book it was based on are first rate. :D

Very good film...could've been a little tighter...but I can see how porting a book would've made it hard to see where to streamline.

Oh, this movie is about a horse? I always thought it was about poo, from the title.

I thought it was a high-seas myth where supposedly all the crewmembers surround a large sea-spunge, naked...
