To Malik23:
Territories - Rush

I see the Middle Kingdom between Heaven and Earth
Like the Chinese call the country of their birth
We all figure that our homes are set above
Other people than the ones we know and love
In every place with a name
They play the same territorial game
Hiding behind the lines
Sending up warning signs

The whole wide world
An endless universe
Yet we keep looking through
The eyeglass in reverse
Don't feed the people
But we feed the machines
Can't really feel
What international means
In different circles, we keep holding our ground
In different circles, we keep spinning round and round

We see so many tribes -- overrun and undermined
While their invaders dream of lands they've left behind
Better people -- better food -- and better beer
Why move around the world when Eden was so near?
The bosses get talking so tough
And if that wasn't evil enough
We get the drunken and passionate pride
Of the citizens along for the ride

They shoot without shame
In the name of a piece of dirt
For a change of accent
Or the colour of your shirt
Better the pride that resides
In a citizen of the world
Than the pride that divides
When a colourful rag is unfurled
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion

I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.

to dlbpharmd, my favorite bluegrass song by the Dry Branch Fire Squad, just because he likes bluegrass, too:
Atlanta is burning

Two years we've been fighting though it seems like a hundred
Away to the south there's a home I onece knew
Where my loved ones are waiting for a word from the Captain
That the battle has ended for the gray and the blue

I left dear old Georgia on the first day of April
The grass in the valley was just turning green
I married my Sally just a week before leaving
We now have a baby that I've never seen

She wrote me a letter that told of our baby
He's just like his daddy is the words that it said
But thats been so long now that it seems like foever
And Lord I'm so homesick I wish I were dead

Atlanta is burning the horizon is flaming
The thunder of cannons in the distance I hear
I think of my Sally and the son that she gave me
If I could just see her and the baby so dear

A bullet has found me and the darkness is falling
The pain is unreal and my body so weak
The Captain is calling is but I cannot answer
My thoughts wonder soughts wonder southland as go to sleep
Love as thou wilt.

Life Is But A Dream

And a shadow fell
Bringing sleep to all
Life is but a dream
Ours

When you disappear
You are everywhere
Life is but a dream
Ours

In our beauty sleep
In big sleep together
Nothing ever ends
Nothing lasts forever

You'll come back again
I am waiting then
Life is but a dream
It's ours

Life is but a dream

Lucimay wrote that todd wrote:I can tell, I can feel
I can tell, I can feel, I can see
Something is changing
To me change is no stranger
I don't run, I don't hide
I don't run, I don't hide, I don't fight
What fate arranges
I don't think about danger
If it was meant for me
I'd know just where to go
But if I can take it slow
Then I might be in control

In the back of my head
In the back of my head there is doubt
There is suspicion
With my new fascination
I don't know what it is
I don't know what it is, you might say
It's intuition
It's a true indication
I should trust myself
I should beware of this
But it's like a stranger's kiss
And somehow I can't resist

I can feel, I can feel,
I can feel, I can feel,
my will slip away
From a strange influenza
I can feel, I can feel,
I can feel, I can feel
my mind slip away
Under your influenza
I can feel, I can feel,
I can feel, I can feel
my heart slip away
Under your influenza

There's a part of my heart
There's a part of my heart that says stop
Please go no further
I just can't take the pressure
So I try to resist
So I try to resist and my heart
Tells me don't bother
That this pain is a pleasure
If I were someone else
I wouldn't disagree
But it's always hard to see
When something's controlling me

I can feel, I can feel,
I can feel, I can feel
my will slip away
From a strange influenza
I can feel, I can feel,
I can feel, I can feel
my mind slip away
Under your influenza
I can feel, I can feel,
I can feel, I can feel
my heart slip away
Under your influenza

for Avatar one of my favorite songs, an inspiration for my lyrical work.

Mercury Rev : Chasing A Bee

Those seducers [4x]
bombed out lovers, gallant red flocks of mellow seducers, fine eager seekers, deep deep down
beautiful lines from above and we're all a-glow
raise her head and things get warm, hold on to its leg, before it flies away
sun lit walks, I feel no harm, my primitive words match my primitive heart

it's not as easy as it may seem, remember that yourself is steam

[chorus] and of course it don't mind, chasing a bee inside a jar [x2]

Then like sheep led to sacrifial slaughter, they don't mind, but they oughta, all the time (they oughta)
their pretty shells are so inviting, well protected
their eyes are rivers, they give me shivers

[chorus]

it's not time for the real life sign, it's not time for these fears of mine [x2]
i'm feeling troubled, i'm feeling trapped, can't shake that bubble off my back

it's not as easy as it may seem, remember that yourself is steam [x2]

it's not time for the real life sign, it's not time for these fears of mine
i'm feeling troubled, i'm feeling trapped, can't shake that bubble off my back
i feel no harm, i feel no harm, ...feel no harm

[chorus]

its not as easy as it may seem, remember that yourself is steam

what once was lost will never be found, keep spinning in circles until you break new ground

this goes out to all the Downtrodden Watchers out there.....sure seems like alot of despair in de air........

Hold Your Head Up

Argent

  • And if it's bad
Don't let it get you down, you can take it
    And if it hurts
Don't let them see you cry, you can make it

Hold your head up, Oh, hold your head up

Oh, hold your head up, Oh, hold your head high
Hold your head up, Oh, hold your head up

Oh, hold your head up, Oh, hold your head high

    And if they stare
Just let them burn their eyes on your beauty
    And if they shout
Don't let it change a thing that you're doing

Oh, hold your head up, Oh, hold your head high
Hold your head up, Oh, hold your head up

Deeper waters flowed
Recently it showed
Tryin' to cover your head
Tryin' to frighten you
Tryin' to fight with you
Really gettin' you scared
But don't you worry, you love of mine
Pretty soon it will all be fine
And we'll just go on

Higher hills to climb
Climbin' all the time
Tryin' to find a way through
Fallin' down again, on the ground again
Wonderin' what you can do
But don't you worry, you love of ours
They look like weeds, but they're really flowers
And they'll soon be gone

You won't stand up, you won't sit down
Your head's a mile above the ground
And though we tend to scold you now
I couldn't start to tell you how
We couldn't start to tell you how
There's just no way to say how much we love you

You, little Dennis, you
You're full of new surprise
Love you
You, little Dennis with the rascal in your eyes
You're a prize

It could be bad, it could be worse
You're taking out your mother's purse
And though you cried when you got told
The money there was for the old
To keep their dogs from getting cold
The only thing that can't be sold is love

You, little Dennis, you
You're full of new surprise
Love you
You, little Dennis with the rascal in your eyes

Will you pick up your toys?
Will you be a good boy?
Will you please, please?

There's a way
There's a way
If you'll play
If you'll stay
There's a way through
There's a way to take away blue
Take away blue

There's a way
There's a way
If you'll play
If you'll stay
There's a way through
There's a way to take away blue
Take away blue

There's a way
There's a way
If you'll play
If you'll stay
There's a way through
There's a way to...

just cause i like Alice in Chains

Know me broken by my master
Teach thee on child of love hereafter

Into the flood again
Same old trip it was back then
So i made a big mistake
Try to see it once my way

Drifting body it's sole desertion
Flying not yet quite the notion

Into the flood again
Same old trip it was back then
So i made a big mistake
Try to see it once my way

Into the flood again
Same old trip it was back then
So i made a big mistake
Try to see it once my way

Am i wrong?
Have i run too far to get home?
Have i gone?
And left you here alone?
If i would, could you?
you're more advanced than a cockroach,
have you ever tried explaining yourself
to one of them?

LONESOME TOWN - Baker Knight

There's a place where lovers go
To cry their troubles away.
And they call it,
Lonesome Town,
Where the broken hearts stay.

You can buy a dream or two
To last you all through the years.
And the only price you pay
Is a heart full of tears.

Goin' down to Lonesome Town,
Where the broken hearts stay.
Goin' down to Lonesome Town,
To cry my troubles away.

In the town of broken dreams,
The streets are filled with regret.
Maybe down in
Lonesome Town,
I can learn to forget.
Maybe down in
Lonesome Town,
I can learn to forget.

A Lucky Guy
rickie lee jones

Oh, he's a lucky guy
Oh, he's a lucky guy
He doesn't worry about me
When I'm gone
He goes to sleep at night
He don't turn off the light
And wonder how to find me
Or if I'm alone

Oh, he's a lucky guy
I wish I was like him
Cuz when he talks about me
He don't look this way
He's a lucky guy

He used to walk with me
He used to talk to me
See, we have these secrets
That no one else could hear
Well, he's not the only one
No, no not the only one
But what happens to them?

Do they matter?
Do they disappear
Into a lonely girl?
Now I'm a lonely girl
Cuz I want somebody with me in the world
Oh, he's a lucky guy

Fortune walks right in the door
And here I am
Just like before

Well, I'm not gonna turn around
I'm not his pretty clown
I'm not the one caught
Like he thought
He was the last one I had there

Cuz I did a foolish thing
A real, real stupid thing
I told him I love him
And I want him there
When I knew he wouldn't come
And I knew he didn't care
And I'll cry awhile
I'll cry awhile
But when I wake up
Tomorrow is a new day
I'm a lucky guy
Hey, I'm a lucky guy
Real, real lucky guy
Hey, I'm a lucky guy
you're more advanced than a cockroach,
have you ever tried explaining yourself
to one of them?

for our mod here. and though you can't hear it, the guitar solo at the end is for her esp.

When that fat old sun in the sky is falling,
Summer evening birds are calling.
Summer's thunder time of year,
The sound of music in my ears.
Distant bells,
New mown grass smells so sweet.
By the river holding hands,
Roll me up and lay me down.
And if you sit,
Don't make a sound.
Pick your feet up off the ground.
And if you hear as the warm night falls
The silver sound from a time so strange,
Sing to me, sing to me.
When that fat old sun in the sky is falling,
Summer evening birds are calling.
Children's laughter in my ears,
The last sunlight disappears.
And if you sit,
Don't make a sound.
Pick your feet up off the ground.
And if you hear as the warm night falls
The silver sound from a time so strange,
Sing to me, sing to me.
When that fat old sun in the sky is falling,

To my co-mod:
The Mystery Man came over
An' he said: "I'm outa-site!"
He said, for a nominal service charge,
I could reach nervonna t'nite
If I was ready, willing 'n able
To pay him his regular fee
He would drop all the rest of his pressing affairs
And devote His Attention to me
But I said . . .
Look here brother,
Who you jivin' with that Cosmik Debris?
(Now who you jivin' with that Cosmik Debris?)
Look here brother,
Don't you waste your time on me

The Mystery Man got nervous
An' he fidget around a bit
He reached in the pocket of his Mystery Robe
An' he whipped out a shaving kit
Now, I thought it was a razor
An' a can of foamin' goo
But he told me right then when the top popped open
There was nothin' his box won't do
With the oil of Afro-dytee
An' the dust of the Grand Wazoo
He said:
"You might not believe this, little fella, but it'll cure your Asthma too!"
An' I said . . .
Look here brother,
Who you jivin' with that Cosmik Debris?
(Now what kind of a geroo are you anyway?)
Look here brother,
Don't you waste your time on me
Don't waste yer time . . .

I've got troubles of my own, I said
An' you can't help me out
So take your meditations an' your preparations
An' ram it up yer snout
"BUT I GOT A KRISTL BOL!," he said
An' held it to the light
So I snatched it
All away from him
An' I showed him how to do it right
I wrapped a newspaper 'round my head
So I'd look like I was Deep
I said some Mumbo Jumbos then
An' told him he was goin' to sleep
I robbed his rings
An' pocket watch
An' everything else I found
I had that sucker hypnotized
He couldn't even make a sound
I proceeded to tell him his future then
As long as he was hanging around,
I said
"The price of meat has just gone up
An' yer ol' lady has just gone down . . . "
Look here brother,
Who you jivin' with that Cosmik Debris?
(Now is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?)
Don't you know,
You could make more money as a butcher,
So don't you waste your time on me
(Don't waste it, don't waste your time on me . . . )
Ohm shonty, ohm shonty, ohm shonty-ohm
SSHONTAY
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise

Blow away dandelion

I don't know what that cologne is
But it's working like a charm
It's easy to imagine
Walking you on my arm ... on my arm
I wanna show you around the sights
But not tonight

I like the outfit you're wearing
I like the way that you think
I'd like to call us a cab and take you out for a drink
Wait Wait
I wanna take you for a little bite
But not tonight

No No

I'd like to have a chance to treat you right
But not tonight

I could squeeze you in
But my dance card is full
Still I might change plans
if you give a little (Ahh) Just a little pull

I hear you have a reputation
They say you like to move fast
They say that you don't give a damn
About the price of your gas (That's a gas)
So we can drive until the early light
But not tonight

No No ... I think I have a chance to treat you right
But not tonight

I could make some calls
Move things around
And cancel stuff
But your a long long road
I must go down
One night is not enough

I could squeeze you in
But my dance card is full
Still I might change plans
if you give a little (Ahh) a little ... give a little more

So put me in your Blackberry
and I'll take your E-mail
And we'll meet when the time is right
But not tonight

We're gonna drive till the early light
But not tonight

No not tonight

We're gonna raise a glass
But not tonight

We're gonna burn up gas

But not tonight

We're gonna dine and dance

But not tonight

We're gonna take the chance
But not tonight

We're gonna scandalize
But not tonight

We're gonna see the sunrise
But not tonight

We're gonna drive till the early light
But not tonight ... No not tonight

I stayed up a couple of times on plenty of coffee when Tam was in South Dakota and one of Ferguson's monologues had to do with psychedelic drugs and the college mushroom study--I was literally beating the walls and peeing in my pants (actually you may be able to find a clip of it on the Craig Ferguson Show web page). He's usually much funnier that all the other network hosts, but when he's truly on he can make you die of laughter! Definately my second fav Scottish comedian after Connelly.
