For linna bobinna.

Time keeps moving on
Through the sunshine and the storm
And my dreams are set in stone
And someday I'll be who I want to be
For now I'll wait
For the sun to shine again
And for now I'll wait
For the rain to pass away

And I'm looking for the brighter days
When all my hurts seem to fade away
I'm looking for the brighter days to come my way

Faces come and faces go
But none seem to look my way
And walls have stood and walls have fallen
But my heart seems to wait
For now I'll sit at the end of the road
And for now I'll wait
At the end of the pathway

I'll see the sun one day shine upon me
I'll see the sun one day
And watch the nighttime turn to morning
But for now it all comes back around

And I'm looking for the brighter days
When all my hurts seem to fade away
I'm looking for the brighter days to come my way

for cj miller - wherever you are

Long distance runner, what you standin there for?
Get up, get out, get out of the door
Your playin cold music on the barroom floor
Drowned in your laughter and dead to the core.
There's a dragon with matches that's loose on the town
Takes a whole pail of water just to cool him down.

Fire! fire on the mountain!

Almost ablaze still you don't feel the heat
It takes all you got just to stay on the beat.
You say it's a livin, we all gotta eat
But you're here alone, there's no one to compete.
If mercys a busness, I wish it for you
More than just ashes when your dreams come true.

Fire! fire on the mountain!

Long distance runner, what you holdin out for?
Caught in slow motion in a dash for the door.
The flame from your stage has now spread to the floor
You gave all you had. why you wanna give more?
The more that you give, the more it will take
To the thin line beyond which you really can't fake.

Fire! fire on the mountain!

For the love of my life....

We all lead such elaborate lives
Wild ambitions in our sights
How an affair of the heart survives
Days apart and hurried nights
Seems quite unbelievable to me
I don''t want to live like that
Seems quite unbelievable to me
I don't want to love like that
I just want our time to be
Slower and gentler, wiser, free

We all live in extravagant times
Playing games
we all can't win
Unintended emotional crimes
take some out take others in

Too many choices tear us apart
I don't want to live like that
Too many choices tear us apart
I don't want to love like that
I just want to keep your heart
May this confession be the start

I know you'll give me courage
to face what I must face
with all these complications
in another time and place

We all lead such elaborate lives
We don't know whose words are true
An affair of the heart survives
All the pain the world can do

I'm so tired of all we're going through
I don't want to live like that

I'm so tired of all we're going through
I don't want to love like that
I just want to be with you
Now and forever peaceful, true

for Carol

If you miss the train I'm on, you will know that I am gone
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles,
A hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles,
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.

Lord I'm one, Lord I'm two, Lord I'm three, Lord I'm four,
Lord I'm 500 miles from my home.
500 miles, 500 miles, 500 miles, 500 miles
Lord I'm five hundred miles from my home.

Not a shirt on my back, not a penny to my name
Lord I can't go a-home this a-way
This a-away, this a-way, this a-way, this a-way,
Lord I can't go a-home this a-way.

If you miss the train I'm on you will know that I am gone
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.

For deer:

Salvation belongs to our God,
Who sits upon the throne,
And unto the Lamb,
All praise and glory, wisdom and thanks,
Honor, and power, and strength...

Be to our God forever and ever,
Be to our God forever and ever,
Be to our God forever and ever, Amen!

We the redeemed shall be strong,
In purpose and unity,
Declaring aloud...
All praise and glory, wisdom, and thanks,
Honor, and power, and strength!

Be to our God forever and ever,
Be to our God forever and ever,
Be to our God forever and ever, Amen!

They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."

Back atcha, Linna!

None But Jesus, by Brooke Fraser

In the quiet
In the stillness
I know that You are God
In the secret of Your presence
I know there I am restored
When You call I won’t re - fuse
Each new day again I’ll choose

There is no one else for me
None but Jesus
Crucified to set me free
Now I live to bring Him praise

In the chaos
in confusion
I know You’re sovereign still
In the moment of my weakness
You give me grace to do Your will
When You call I won’t delay
This my song through all my days

There is no one else for me
None but Jesus
Crucified to set me free
Now I live to bring Him praise

All my delight is in You Lord
All of my hope
All of my strength
All my delight is in You Lord
Forever more

There is no one else for me
None but Jesus
Crucified to set me free
Now I live to bring Him praise
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle. -Philo of Alexandria

A couple ol' faces have been surfacing on the Watch lately, which reminded me of this Spanish song. This is all for you wayward children ;)

Essentially, the story and meaning behind the song is that the band had just finished a double album finishing a musical project that spanned a decade or so. At this point, several members started doing side projects and eventually some left the band, including the lead vocals. This prompted suspicions that the band was breaking up and that there would be no more creative output.

Hearing this, they hired a new lead vocal (who turned out to be great) and produced an album that they released late last year.

The gist of this song is essentially, "So you thought we had gone away? Forsooth! We'll always be there for you so long as you want us."

Seguiremos luchando

seguiremos luchando
nadie nos podrá parar
nuestra voz ahora es la vuestra
ahora somos de verdad
seguiremos tocando
pues la magia sigue aquí
hemos vuelto pa' quedarnos
hemos vuelto para ti

brindaremos por todos
los que ya no volverán
Nos veremos en un Bar...

Phish - Wading in the Velvet Sea

Image

I took a moment from my day
Wrapped it up in things you say
Mailed it off to your address
You'll get it pretty soon unless

The packaging begins to break
And all the points I tried to make
Are tossed with thoughts into a bin
Time leaks out my life leaks in

You won't find moments in a box
And someone else will set your clocks
I took a moment from my day
Wrapped it up in things you say
And mailed it off to you

Minutemen - Corona

The people will survive
In their environment
The dirt, scarcity, and the emptiness
Of our South
The injustice of our greed
The practice we inherit
The dirt, scarcity and the emptiness
Of our South
There on the beach
I could see it in her eyes
I only had a Corona

for our upcoming E-Fest. this goes out to everyone.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM6fDpWdkyY

Let's put our heads together and start a new country up
Our father's father's father tried, erased the parts he didn't like
Let's try to fill it in, bank the quarry river, swim
We knee-skinned it you and me, we knee-skinned that river red

(chorus 1)
This is where we walked, this is where we swam
Take a picture here, take a souvenir

This land is the land of ours, this river runs red over it
We knee-skinned it you and me, we knee-skinned that river red
And we gathered up our friends, bank the quarry river, swim
We knee-skinned it you and me, underneath the river bed

(repeat chorus 1)

(chorus 2)
Cuyahoga
Cuyahoga, gone

Let's put our heads together, start a new country up,
Underneath the river bed we burned the river down
This is where they walked, swam, hunted, danced and sang,
Take a picture here, take a souvenir

Repeat chorus 2)

Rewrite the book and rule the pages, saving face, secured in faith
Bury, burn the waste behind you

This land is the land of ours, this river runs red over it
We are not your allies, we can not defend

(repeat chorus 1)

(repeat chorus 2 2x)

Two for deer:

Michael Card - Maranatha
(I Thessalonians 4:13)

Maranatha is a cry of the heart
That's hopeful yet weary of waiting
While it may be joyful with the burdens it bears
It's sick with anticipating
To long for the Promised One day after day
And the promise that soon He'd return
It's certain that waiting's the most bitter lesson
A believing heart has to learn

Chorus
Maranatha,
How many more moments must this waiting last
Maranatha, we long for the time when all time is past
A commotion, a call then that will be all
Though it's not yet the hour
The minutes are ticking away

Maranatha is the shout of the few
Who for so long in history've been hiding
Who truly believe that the sound of that call
Might actually hasten His coming
For no eye has seen and no ear has yet heard
And no mind has ever conceived
The joy of the moment when He will appear
To the wonder of all who believe

Maranatha,
How many more moments must this waiting last
Maranatha, we long for the time when all time is past
A commotion, a call then that will be all
Though it's not yet the hour
The minutes are ticking away

(Maranatha) How hungry we are just to see Your face
(Parousia) To finally fall in one long embrace
A commotion, a call and that will be all
Though it's not yet the hour
The minutes are ticking away

"How He Loves"
(originally by John Mark McMillan)

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory, <3
And I realize just how beautiful You are, <3
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us, oh,
Oh, how He loves us,
How He loves us all

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us, oh,
Oh, how He loves us,
How He loves us all

Yeah, He loves us,
Oh, how He loves us,
Oh, how He loves us,
Oh, how He loves.

And we are His portion and He is our prize, (!!!)
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes, <3
If his grace is an ocean, we're all sinking.
And Heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don't have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about the way...

He loves us,
Oh, how He loves us,
Oh, how He loves us,
Oh, how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh, how He loves us,
Oh, how He loves us,
Oh, how He loves.

Yeah, He loves us,
Oh, how He loves us...
Oh, how He loves us...
Oh, how He loves us.

You nailed it on the head with Maranatha, Linna.

And I love the second song... my sister says the original went,
Heaven meets earth like a wet, sloppy kiss
Which I LOVE.

*sigh*

Back atcha, Linna:

Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) Hillsong United

You call me out upon the waters,
The great unknown, where feet may fail
And there I find you in the mystery
In oceans deep, my faith will stand

And I will call upon your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in your embrace
For I am yours and you are mine, oh

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand will be my guide
Where feel may fail and fear surrounds me
You never fail and you won’t stop now

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters,
Wherever you would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle. -Philo of Alexandria

One of these days I'll sit down and work out the piano parts for this and play it to my daughter. To her I dedicate this:
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful to me
Can't you see
Your everything I hoped for
Your everything I need
You are so beautiful to me

Such joy and happiness you bring
Such joy and happiness you bring
Like a dream
A guiding light that shines in the night
Heavens gift to me
You are so beautiful to me

When first heard the song for the first time, flicking on the radio, I caught:

"...a cry of the heart
That's hopeful yet weary of waiting
While it may be joyful with the burdens it bears
It's sick with anticipating
To long for the <static-noise> day after day
And the promise that soon he'd return
It's certain that waiting's the most bitter lesson
A <static-noise> heart has to learn"

I thought it was a wistful-sounding folk ballad.
Thank. you. Needful.

I have a vague idea that it's in A Major and that it's not too difficult to play, but I just need to sit at the piano and work on it (for me that's quicker than getting the sheet music and trying to play it).

To the fantasy:

Robyn Hitchcock - She's Doesn't Exist

I used to ring you and put down the phone
Once wore a hole in your dress
Even tried voodoo right outside your home
But these days I just couldn't care less

She doesn't exist anymore
She doesn't exist anymore

I let her go like the fool that I was
Thought I'd get over her soon
I smell her perfume when my eyes are closed
And I see her face in the moon

But she doesn't exist anymore
She doesn't exist anymore

I tell myself it would be different now
I wouldn't treat her that way
I wouldn't be me if she wasn't her
And it's far too late anyway

And she doesn't exist anymore
(La la la lala)
She doesn't exist anymore (La la lala la la)
(La la la lala)

Only inside you the ghost of a love
That is wordless and painful and old
There's no one else in the whole outside world
That matches to her in your soul

But she doesn't exist anymore
(La la la lala)
She doesn't exist anymore (La la lala la la)
(La la la lala)
She doesn't exist anymore
(La la la lala)
She doesn't exist anymore (La la lala la la)
(La la la lala)

to Carol, who just lost her mother...

The roof is leakin' and the wind is howlin'
Kids are crying 'cause the sheets are so cold
I woke this mornin' found my hands were frozen
I've tried to fix the fire but you know the damn thing's too old

It's been months now, since we heard from our Mary
I wonder if she ever made the coast
Well she and her young man they both moved out there
I sure hope they write just to let us know

And me, I'm getting stronger by the minute
My wife's expecting but I hope she can wait
'Cause this winter looks like, it's gonna be another bad one
But spring'll soon be here oh, but I hope it's not late

Ma and pa lived here and their's before them
They tried their hardest to make it a home
Seems so long now since they passed over
Hope my children'll try to make it their own

Now my roof is leakin' and the wind is howlin'
The kids are cryin', 'cos the sheets are so cold
I woke this mornin' and my hands were frozen
Oh I've tried to fix the fire but you know the damn thing's too old

But me, oh I'm getting stronger by the minute
