That's the thing. I can't tell. The ending was heartbreaking, but tbh I kinda saw it coming.Fist and Faith wrote:The most important thing is, was it good?aliantha wrote:Still not sure what it was. That's probably a bad sign.

Hey Av! Found a copy of that Snow Crash in a second hand bookstore and snapped it up for a pound fifty!
Looking forward to reading it.

That's not the Empire trilogy, that's the Riftwar trilogy. I like it, but the Empire one is much better. (Starts with "Daughter of the Empire")Skyweir wrote:oooh great books Av 👌 nice 😎
I’m reading Feists Empire trilogy and I’m not enjoying as much as I thought.
Currently on book 3 A darkness at Sethanon ~ but meh.
Anyway, I finished book 8 of the Expanse, Tiamat's Wrath and now I'm on the last book, Leviathan Falls.

Not sure that the world it depicts would work for me, but some of the ideas are very compelling. Especially like the idea of the 1's and 0's of binary being representative of the 'being vs nothingness' idea of existence. As perhaps you know, I'm really into the idea of 'being' being the key thing that gives us immortality - that being, once bestowed, can never be taken away, so this is an interesting thing to contemplate - that information at the computational level is down there among the nuts and bolts of the fundamentals of existence. Nice!
While I'm here, can I just shout out to anyone who see's this, for the reading club I'm trying to put together for starting around the beginning of next year.
Low key affair - a few not too onerous classics per year - nothing too heavy, but hopefully some food for the soul.
Find the thread over in the general reading forum!
Hope to see you there!

Glad you're enjoying it. I think Raven may be one of my favourite sci-fi(ish) characters.
As for me...Finished Rivers of London, then while I was busy on book 2, my delivery arrived early, so I went straight to book 9, Amongst Our Weapons.
Enjoyed it, but a minor niggle was that when I (very unusually for me, with a book in a series I'm already reading) read the blurb on the back, I discovered that they had tried to make a joke in it, which, to everybody who got the joke, actually spoiled a part of the plot.
Odd decision.
Anyway, now trying to decide between going back to book 2, and reading Memory's Legion which also arrived. (Expanse short stories.)
Probably back to Moon over Soho (Book 2 of RoL) though...I'm in that mood now...
