ROTS -- less than a week away!

Post by duchess of malfi »

After reading the book I am getting pretty excited (I know...I know...I'm letting myself in for a possible big let-down here -- but if the acting is better, it might be very good!!).

In fact, I even picked up my tickets today -- will see it on Friday, May 20 at 7:30PM. 8)

Was wondering if anyone else is excited enough yet to get tix?

Or looking forward to the film?

Or did the other two prequels (Jar Jar -- hurk-- Jar Jar Image) turn people off so much they don't want to see this one at all?

I'm only going because I got a free ticket for the midnight premiere. Not that excited. Sorry.

I'm excited as a sci-fi geek. I'm not looking forward to a further travesty.

I rarely go to the movies. The last movie I saw in theaters was "The Life Aquatic", then "Kill Bill, Vol. 2", and then "The Return of the King". I watched the first two because a friend wanted to, so you could say the last time I went to a movie of my own volition was Return of the King. Been a long time!

So yeah, pretty excited for Revenge of the Sith. I'm definitely going to try and see it opening night. I love opening nights. Great people watching. Seeing folks dressed up as their favorite characters.

When "Fellowship of the Ring" opened, they had a guy dressed up like Gandalf make a speech to the crowd, just before the movie started. I knew it was just some tall dude in a costume, but damn, it was an exciting moment! I just love the fanfare. It's that build-up--the anticipation before the lights go down--that really strikes a chord in me.

I think it'll be the best of the prequels, and I also think it's going to be interesting to see Anakin's final transformation into Vader. The trailer looks promising, but, then again, most trailers do.

How can I not be excited about a Star Wars movie, especially since this will be the last one? Even talk of Jar Jar is not enough to dent my excitement. George Lucas may have stumbled ever since the Ewoks in ROTJ, but I remain loyal to the universe he built.

Spoiler alert!!!!

Now I am excited (Tarkin being my favourite character):
Vader and the Emperor stand beside a younger Grand Moff Tarkin on the bridge of a Star Destroyer, overlooking the earliest construction stage of the Death Star.

Loremaster,

That is sweet! We even get to see Star Destroyers, nice.

Perhaps he is not a Grand Moff at this point, but just a Moff. I thought he acheived that rank pretty late in his career.

Yeah, that's what I recall. And you know what this means, the Imperials start showing up in the movie; something tells me I will enjoy this.

(Since these seem to be generally appreciated.)

AintItCoolNews: The SITH has hit the fans - and thus far the word is very very strong!

About 5 nonprofessional reviews.
- "it beats the first two combined."
- "this one is everything I hoped it could be."
- "the pure satisfaction and joy of watching everything come together and form a bridge between the first two movies and the three of our childhood is undeniable."
- "better even than Return of the Jedi."

Also, Steven Spielberg: 'absolutely amazing, the best of the last three films'.

I've got to hurry and invite my friend over to my house, so he can see Episode II (he's hasn't seen it yet, and he's going with me to see Episode III).

I am very excited. Not enough to brave the crowds and lines of opening weekend but perhaps the following thursday afternoon I'll take a shot. :-)

I look forward to seeing it, but I also hope Jar Jar gets his stupis tongue caught in a X-wing engine
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

I hinted to my girlfriend that I wanted her to go with me, but then she pointed out that she's never actually seen a single Star Wars film. So it looks like I'll be going alone. I'm looking forward to it though; early reports point to it being better than the previous two, and I didn't think either of them were bad, just mediocre.

Thanks for the link. My younger son, who is extremely excited about the movie, just read through the whole thing. :) We screamed with delight at the huge margin Jar Jar is winning the poll question about who the most annoying Star Wars character of all time is.
