I rather think that if SRD had contributed something that he would have been accepted out of hand. I'd have given up my seat on the boat for him. :-)
I bloody wouldn't. He can already get himself published! :P

Yeah, it sucks. But we were asked to select and we had to select. I'm truly sorry if we have offended or upset anyone, but that was always going to happen when works are submitted for selection and not universally included.
VS sums it up well for all of us on the selection committee. We were here to do a job and we took it seriously. We weren't heartless bastards gleefully rejecting material left and right, but I can understand how the committee might be painted as such, due to the thankless nature of the task we were assigned. I don't know how many times we can say we're sorry, but for what it's worth, I'll say it too: I'm sorry if our choices resulted in any hurt feelings. VS, dlbpharmd and I carefully judged every entry sent our way; if our judgement seems suspect to some, well, there's not much we can do about that. You folks could maybe launch an independent inquiry or something...

With that out of the way, I want to say it's been a stimulating experience for me to participate in this project. My mind has been opened to all the interesting creative writing talent that is here at the Watch. As a consequence of working on the Anthology, I've been browsing the back pages of the Hall of Gifts and paying more attention to what's in there.

Heh, if it makes anyone feel better, probably the only reason why mine was picked is because the selection committee feared getting banned.

But seriously, thanks to the selection committee for giving my short story the honor of being selected... I had no idea it would be so competitive. While my story is pretty silly, it's pretty special to me since it's the only work of extended creative writing I've been able to produce. I just hope everyone enjoys it. And hopefully everyone won't yell, "Bah, the only reason why this crap is in here is because the author is an admin." Heh.

But yeah, thanks to everyone who put work into this thing. I hope it turns out pretty cool.-jay

Wait a minute, Jay. My story was selected; why aren't I an Administrator?

Wait a minute. My story wasn't selected - does that mean I'm SRD and some crepuscular person refused to give up their place for me?

I can't wait to see the finished product! Thank you for including "The Creed", it's been around a very long time (gathering dust in the closet for 10 years or so) will be awesome to see it in actual print. :D :D
And I believe in you

Your welcome Jay, and thank you. :D I share your sentiments and hope the finished product is as great as we all hope.

So, once we're accepted, we have to write a 150-200 word bio. Are these also subject to the submission committee?

Just write something crepuscular, dAN -- I'm sure it'll be okay.

Thanks to the selection committee for selecting my story -- I'm honored to be included.

I'm headed right now to the Hall of Gifts to read Syl's & CovJr's.

Thanks to everyone who worked on the Anthology (and are continuing to do so!) Considering the time constraints that work, family and life's little problems put on people, I'm sure it wasn't easy for you to make this happen. I'm looking forward to reading it :)

Yeah, but yours has already been pre-rejected. ;)
