Favorite quote?

Post by Sorus »

The TCTC boards have several such threads, and the series that brought us 'Conformity of purpose will be achieved through the mutual satisfaction of requirements.' must surely be equally worthy.

What's your favorite quote, phrase, word?

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

First off, as I have said before, I am not one for memorizing text literally, I tend to remember the 'feel' or emotion of the pages. Having said that, one line that I always remember (and I can't remember which book he is introduced in), is when we meet 'Bill'...
"I am the Bill you owe"....

I love that... It was a sign above a door somewhere, wasn't it?...

I don't remember being struck by any particular quote in the series. It was too epic for one moment to stand out. In a sense every moment stood out, but because they all did you don't notice it.

That said, "Conformity of purpose will be achieved through the mutual satisfaction of requirements." is a good one.

On the wall over the door was a sign that read:

"I'M THE BILL YOU OWE. IF YOU DON'T PAY ME, YOU DON'T LEAVE"

I've always been intrigued by SRD's usage of the word fatal.

For example, the line:
The wind in her ears had become as black and fatal as the gap.

...never fails to send a shiver up my spine. 8O

I had more examples in mind, but now I can't find them. :x

Best spoken quote:
The universe spoke to me and I did what it said! And I don't even exist! I'm just a shadow of you!
Sum sui generis
Vs
You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

"It is patent that brilliance and mindlessness cannot coexist, that ambition metastisizes exponentially in the absence of scruple." Oh yeah...
It was the fetid halitus of the most diseased mortality condensed to its essence and elevated to the transcendence of prophecy, promise, suzerain truth—the definitive commandment of darkness.

That scene in TDAGD where Dolph Ubikwe says:

"Hell, Min, if she thinks this is how we treat the enemy, she should see us when we're in dock."

It's not even that funny, but there was so little humor in the series that it always caught me off guard. As much as I loved the overall darkness of the series, I always wished there was more from his POV.
