Kung Fu Hustle

Post by Usivius »

I didn't see this one on any page, so here we go.
I bought this movie on DVD sight unseen, only because Terry Gilliam said it was the best and funniest movie he had seen all year.
And I was not disappointed. It was hilarious. I cannot urge you martial-arts and comedy fans strongly enough to go see this movie! I loved it. And there are so many recognizabel faces in this movie (if you watch any chinese m-a movies at all)....

Great fun!

My favourite part?...
Spoiler
where The Beast is pounding Chow's head in to the ground, pauses to ask why he hit him in the first place. Chow's shaking hand struggles for a timy peice of broken lumber, and as answer, shakily taps the villian on the forehead.... :haha:
Loved it!

And yeah, I was busting up a full two days later thinking about that bit.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

me too....
I'm giggling now.

(sorry I missed that other posting. didn't mean to steal anyone thunder  )

I loved the way the fight sequences got more and more outrageous and grand. And the humour was so Loony Tunes...
