OK, since this is my first topic I should say that my name is Sean Kelly and I'm a big movie buff. That's why I'm posting here.
Now, onto business.
The Doom movie has been recieving mixed reviews with the majority leaning towards the negative.
I saw the movie yesterday and, while it could have been done better (with more monsters from the game and a plot that's closer to the game), I found Doom an entertaining movie with a very memoriable FPS sequence towards the end (which, to me, made up for any shortcomings with the rest of the film).
So, what do you all think?

Hey, welcome SPKx! It is nice to have another Torontonian here.
I too am a big movie buff and video game nut, but have not got up the gumption to go see this in the theatre. Time is my issue. I don't have much of it so I pick my movies 'carefully'. Having said that, I am interested in seeing it, and will go if someone pays (
) or when it hits DVD.

I'll probably wait to rent the dvd......I'm just not a big fan of 'video game' movies. But,if you like sci-fi movies, check out Serenity while it's still out. You won't have to justify that one by it's spectacular finish; it's good all the way through.

Well, first I should say that the first-person shooter is my favorite kind of game. But it looks like this film continues the dubious tradition of big screen videogame adaptations that suck.
I watched Ebert & Roeper's review of Doom: Two thumbs way, way down. I think the movie is guaranteed a place on their Worst of the Year list.
I was not that eager to see the movie in the first place. Now I'm not spending a cent on it. I'll wait for it to air on TV.
