Bowie? Too cool for a Vespers thread?

I've significantly expanded my Bowie collection. Currently I have (and I love each of them for different reasons):

Aladdin Sane
Diamond Dogs
"Heroes"
Hunky Dory
Let's Dance
Lodger
Low
The Man Who Sold the World
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
Santa Monica '72 (2008 official release)
Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)
Stage
Station to Station

I'm trying to get up to speed with his whole back catalogue; I eventually want to evaluate his *gulp* more recent work. None of his recent stuff has gotten particularly good reviews -- in fact, nothing since Scary Monsters (1980) seems to have been spectacular. It's bizarre that someone so masterful in the 1970s could have such a long drought. So I've been getting pretty intensely into his work not only because I love it, but because I've sort of made it my mission to understand this critical decline.

Speaking of his recent work. Is he still operating under the stock plan he sold to fans? Where they owned the profits from his next X amount of albums and bought stock in it? Just wondered if he suffered from the same type situation where an athlete gets guaranteed money and then their quality/production drops off.

Actually, both Heathen and Reality are pretty damn good. I would say the only *major* bowie album you are missing is Young Americans. (An album I have mixed feeling about, but Fame and the Title Track remain pretty shit hot tunes.

Not familiar with Santa Monica 72 and how it compares to the Philly Live album that was reissued, I think in the early 00s. Even though many of the same songs it is worth it for
1984
Rebel Rebel
Moonage Daydream
Sweet Thing
Changes
Aladin Sane

Great live versions.

Life on Mars is awesome. As much as I appreciated Bowie, when I discovered it (only in the early 90s) it took my appreciation to a whole 'nother level.

I like his song "Heroes". Something about it just picks me up.
