Mickey Rourke or Vincent D'Onofrio as Angus?

Post by danlo »

I was, initially, going to say sorry for straying away form the Casting the Gap topic-but I'm not. If the Gap Cycle was filmed right now it would be very hard for me to choose between Jean Reno and Mickey Rourke for the role of Angus.

Both actors are almost too old for it but right now they could do it. Reno's got the looks and seriousness for Angus, but Mickey's got the range if he would take it very seriously and work very hard to become Angus. Rourke's got this look like he's never had a mother and him slimy smile is to die for. Unfortunately he has become a steriod boxer cameo-second string badguy lately. His work in Sin City was a huge breath of fresh air and reminded us of what he can do if he puts his mind to it.

Conversely his new weird look could work very well as Angus--too many Gap crossings--too much stim--too many inner struggles--too many implants--too many this that and the other things behind a nasty, slimy rock hard facade---I could see it--I really could. But it would have to be within 5 years and he would have to totally commit himself to the part.

I like Vincent D'Onofrio for Angus, especially after watching The Cell. He's probably one of the few actors who wouldn't baulk at the prospect either.

Good call, Nav! Vincent is truly a twisted actor ... He could do the role perfectly. Too perfectly I am chilled to say!

Nice call!

You all know, that I can't vote, since my (and Lucimay's) candidate #1 Ron Jeremy is not there. But I do think (hard pressed) that rourke would be a far distant second.

Lore: may be. i need to finish the book. bad me. :( but julie and i very much Donofrio fans. the man can become anybody. a great actor. Rourke was great, but has too much plastic surgery and frittered away so much of his potential.
