First off, I think your pictures are fabulous! You certainly have an eye for photography.

Secondly, in General Discussion there exists: The Photography thread - with pictures

Sure, Lyr, you're just too good to bother with us hacks over there, right?

Maybe I'll beg Cov Jr to move the photography thread into this forum.

Well, I thought I'd share some stuff I made, too...

First of all, a picture I just made as a pin-up for my current roleplaying campaign: this is an entity called the Kingmaker, which is a sort of "supernatural merchant", willing to provide the summoner with anything, but capable of asking anything in return (in my campaign, one of the characters lost her voice because her husband-to-be bargained it for the throne of the kingdom). I didn't go for too much realism with this one, because it's just a pin-up; also, some of the apparent inconsistencies (the shadows, for example) are meant to suggest the alien nature of the entity. This was drawn by hand, then scanned into Photoshop and colored there.

Image

The second picture is a desktop image I made, based on the world I've been building for the last four years. It was created in Terragen, and then imported into Photoshop for postproduction work.

Wow, cool!

Matrixman, I hope I didn't sound snippy! I was going for jocular/joshing, but I keep forgetting how easy it is to sound irritable on the intrawebs.

The kingmaker is really cool. . .a nice idea to get players thinking about the price of their souls. :D

The desktop image is really beatiful. . . it looks like a place I'd want to visit. :)

Well, I don't scare easy, true. . . but I do embarrass easily, especially if I feel I've done something gauche. :) But it seems okay with everyone here. . . so I'll just put my other ones on the photography thread and leave this place for other kinds of art. :D

Heh. You did seem snippy. I did compliment Lyr on her photos, ya know. :P

Regarding the suggestion to move the photography thread into this forum: since that particular thread was started by The Leper Fairy, and since she is a co-mod of General Discussion, I think it might be more appropriate to ask her than to ask her fellow mod CovenantJr.

I personally think the photography thread is fine where it is, in Gen Disc. I can see how the art thread would fit into this forum, but what does photography have to do with comics and cartoons? Okay, so Peter Parker was a photographer, but that's kinda stretching it. :P

It would make more sense for it to be in a general art forum, but that doesn't exist here. Don't worry, I'm not about to argue for an art forum. We've been through that before.

Sorry for bringing up sundry Watch politcs here. Now we return you to regularly scheduled art programming...

By the way, awesome desktop picture, Xar! I haven't had the willpower to delve into Terragen, but someday I will...

Terragen (the current version) is very simple, MM... I'm not a professional 3D renderer, but you can quickly get a hold of the basic concepts, and create interesting landscapes. The learning curve isn't so steep (and it is definitely much easier than with most other 3D-rendering programs).

Here's another desktop image, once again a landscape from my world. This one is a mountain in the northern lands, refuge of a sky-soaring race.

I never checked out this forum before. I am in awe!! Loremaster, Dan and Atomic's stuff is incredible. Seriously looks better than some published crap I've seen. Some pretty cool art--reminds me of drawings from RPGs and fantasy/sci-fi collections.

Jwaneeta is out of this world. I can't imagine any publisher not being interested in publishing your works for an SRD art compendium. Good stuff.

I also loved the photography Xar and Aelyria.

Can't wait to see Khaliban's Revelstone.

BTW I am truly impressed that LM, Khaliban and Atomic are not only good artists, but exceptional writers. Good work all!!

The talent at KW never ceases to amaze me.

Thanks, Tulizar. Actualy, there's something on offer. Which geeks me out as a fangirl. :)

Life is made of time and money, and little of both. But I'll try, I'll try.
