In my confusion,...
I was on another section and confused a question. ( Now I know I'm getting old) The question was how would you finish the FC? Excellent question I thought, I'll answer! Then I got confused with the section and started thinking about the movie and before you know it I'm seeing the film in my head not re-writing anything.
So I'll post the question here with all respect going to Caamora. How would you film the ending of the FC? Do you think that Foamfollowers laughter would transfer well to the film?

Is Foamfollowers laughter the ending? I hope not ... so you have two questions here, not one.
You could not excise the Giant's mirth from the movie. The laughter causes the attitudes among the Dead that cause Foul to anti-age and ultimately be demised.
The ending would have to show Covenant raising the wild magic, accompanied by an epiphonical score, to the point where it whites out the screen. The ruin of Foul's creche is heard in the sounds of broken rock and crashing waves. Then perhaps we would have seven seconds of blank white screen.
Slowly, we fade into the scene at Glimmermere - the whiteness becomes the white shining of the krill bleeding away, leaving Mhoram standing before the tarn. The noise of ruin mutes into the noise of applause and cheering. Battered, exhausted, Mhoram begins "People of the Land ... we are gathered here ...". As we pull away, we see some of the people of the Land - not many, the people are battleworn as well, but enough. Mhoram delivers his speech, and the krill is thrown into the lake.
The music swells again, as we follow the krill down into the darkness of the deep lake. (Remember it is there, folks.) All becomes black.
Covenant blinks awake. He is in the hospital. "That poor devil is going to live." "Is there anything we can do?" Covenant deals with the doctor, dresses, and leaves the hospital.
As he walks down the streets of town towards home, and odd look of peace and contentment on his careworn face, we pan back, and catch a glimpse of an old man in an ochre robe, smiling the smile of one who has accomplished quietly his life's dream. He salutes Covenant with the gleam in his eyes. Then he turns and, too, shambles off.
Roll credits.

It would be a pity to cut off the final dialogue between Covenant and the Creator, though: it's there that Covenant makes his point clear about his relationship with the Land, and there is one particular moment in that dialogue that is very powerful, I think: when the Creator shows the scene of Mhoram by Glimmermere, and Covenant's eyes fill with tears of joy for the victory, and perhaps longing (for Foamfollower and all those who died to help him, as well as for a last glimpse of the Land).

I intentionally left it out -- How would you do it? puffy clouds and voiceovers? (Ever see It's a Wonderful Life? The talking galaxies are a nugget of stupidity in a classic movie.) No, I think in a movie we would see the scene at Glimmermere, as I suggested, but there'd be no Covenant-creator dialog. It's not, as one might say, a good denoument for a movie. Instead, everything that needs to be imparted can be expressed on Covenant's face, and the Creators, as I suggested.

Man that would be the cheesiest cheesy cheese way to end the movie; If the creato/Covenant dialogue is left out, then the creator should not be in the ending at all. No. Some things are better left unfilmed, and Foamfollower's laughter at the end is one of them.Buckarama wrote:How would you film the ending of the FC? Do you think that Foamfollowers laughter would transfer well to the film?
Regardless, I'd still see any movie or watch any miniseries adaptation of the Chronicles, laughing or no laughing. I might hate it afterward, but I'd still sit through it.

Like I said in the wrong area, I think it needs to stay although they'd have to do some serious forshadowing on the power of giant laughter. It's an important ending and all sides need to be represented.
Foamfollower's Laughter would have to have some kind of power that would be prevelant in the first part of the movie. And is shown to give hope and health, so that when he does it at the end the sudience knows what's going on.
