The Art of A Song of Ice and Fire

Post by Warmark »

I just bought this book from Borders tonight and have looked at it a little.

From what i can see it looks excellent, although many are not as i imagined them the art is still very good and the accompaning quotes are good.

Anyone else have this?

Edit : Image

Thats an example of the type of art in it.
It is the front cover.

I've seen it, never bought it. Some of it was stunning.

wow, he looks pretty comfortable in that throne...i was under the impression that the throne was built like that so as to NOT be comfortable...

That is Jaime Lannister though - I'm sure he'd exude confidence no matter what. :D

I saw it in Borders and wanted to buy it, but funds are low and I have other books that are higher up the list. The work was very good though, although I didn't like the representations of Dany.

I agree.
Something about them makes her seem really strange.

Less natural than say the representations of Arianne Martell (which I liked even though I haven't read A Feast for Crows yet) or the Starks.

I own this book. So good, that I cut out some of the artwork and framed them.

I agree re: Daenerys, though. I think the artists were trying to capture that "madness" that lurks in the Targaryans, but they didn't quite succeed, at least not as I see Dany, anyway.

She just seems to lack both the innocence of a child and the confidence of a woman - leaving kinda nothing. :?

I have it, too.

I didn't like any of the pitcures of Dany, either. Even the one with the dragons... just didn't capture her right.

My favorite picture is Shae. She didn't look how I pictured her, but she has the right look in her eye.

I didn't like the hound. From what I read, he was supposed to be handsome but for the scars on his face. They definitely didn't stay true to that.

I think it was £20 in hardback from Borders.
Not sure how many dollars that it.

www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=nb_ss_gw/1 ... 12&Go.y=14

$19 there.
