Well, I finished this on the plane back from 'fest. I have some of the same problems that Marvin and Ted have. But my bigger problem is just not knowing why anybody's doing what they're doing. As I was saying to dw at 'fest, somebody will say, "You'd better get him out of the city, before everybody kills him," and I'm thinking, "What?? Why would everybody want to kill him??" I just can't follow political crap well enough.

Anyway, I still LOVE the magic. The Wickan warlocks were awesome!

Kalam is da bomb!!

Fiddler is da bomb!! Even Mappo clearly saw it.

And yeah, Mappo and Icarium. Impressive stuff, even if largely unexplained so far.

Every step of the journey to Aren!!!!! My god, what an incredible story! Triumph and tragedy every day! Horror and resignation; hope and salvation. The sheer exhaustion. Unbelievable writing. (Much like Danlo's journey to Neverness, but TONS and TONS more to this.)

I've just finished this and can't wait to get started on MoI.

A great series, although a bit more mentally challenging in resect of knitting things together as you're reading.

Waiting for MoI from the library, but there are two people in line before me, so it might be a few weeks before I can get the third book :(

I'm not sure what I prefer between the t'lan stuff and the empire in jakurta (or whatever that continent is called).

Well, I'd go with the latter, but the t'lan stuff is pretty awesome too.

It's extremely cool reading this book again! I'm very excited, because I know how amazing it is going to be!! DAMN, every time Duiker or Coltaine are there, I get goosebumps! :D

Hey, here's a t-shirt idea:
I survived the Chain of Dogs, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt!

You won't, Fist. Erikson has said he's not going to appear in this series (Though he hasn't ruled out using the character in future work).

Well, I think it's because the series is only going to cover a time period of a few years, and Coltaine will still be a young child, heh.

That's easy enough to get around. Even if he doesn't want to use Tattersail's method, I imagine a god could speed him up.

Well, anyway, if he's not going to, he's not going to. No problem. In fact, it makes his "death" more dramatic.
