KW ANTHOLOGY II: COVER ART SUBMISSIONS

Post by aTOMiC »

With the wide variety of talented and creative members of our group it seems appropriate that we solicit submissions of original art to be used for the Second Chronicles of Kevin’s Watch. A selection will be chosen for the cover and other entries may be used within the text as it seems appropriate.
Guidelines for art submissions are few but important. First of all submissions should adhere to a similar standard of decorum that we employ here at The Watch. In other words it would be appropriate to maintain at least a PG-13 rating in regard to any images displayed in your submission. Please submit only original artwork to avoid getting us in deep poo due to any copyright issues. A scanned image of no less than 300 dpi is preferred. Submit your art to KWAnthology@gmail.com If you would like to base your submission on the content of one of the selected stories, we can provide excerpts or summaries once more entries have been received.

Submission deadline for artwork 10-1-06 however extentions will be granted by request.

Go nuts and don’t be shy. Remember you are your own worst critic.

Actually, I am the worst critic, and I can prove it. I got straight "F"s in Critic school!

You two wouldn't know a joke if it hit you in the face. The fact that you think there's such a thing as a joke school proves it!

You've never heard of joke school? No wonder your humour is so poor...

jwaneeta, thank you for asking. I had overlooked that part of the guidelines. The submission deadline for cover or interior art is 10-1-06 unless an extention is requested. I hope you submit something. Your talent for the kind of art we need is exceptional. :-)

Don't blame your lack of comprehension on me, buster. If you had gone to a real school, you'd be able to Google "Joke School" and see it doesn't exist. And while you were googling, you could verify that the word gullible has indeed been stricken from the library......

Right ho. I may be asking for a few week's grace down the line, but I started a submission tonight. Thanks.

...and then I dribbled two big gooey strings of old linseed oil on it. And let it dry like that.

Argh. *bangs head*

What size should the cover be? I'd like to try a submission, but I need to know the size :P

The overall size of the cover will be 6" x 9" however reducing a submission from a larger format is acceptable. If your art is chosen for placement within the text, or you submit your work specifically for the interior but was rendered in color, it will have to be converted to grey scale :-)

And here I am, as predicted, begging a week's grace for that October 1st deadline. I have a painting pretty much completed, but it's in oil so I'm concerned about it drying in time. Scanning a wet oil painting would be very much of the Yuck.

ETA: blathering about dimensions.

ETA II: to remove blathering about dimensions - I'll ask when it's done, if I can't work it out myself

No problems jwaneeta. Just PM me with your request, including when you will need until. :D

I just did some checking and I don't think I'll be needing an extension after all. Good to know there's an option in case of emergency, though.

Okay, I've got two submissions. Actually I did no less than three paintings, and I don't like any of them. RATS. :( But eh, they're done and you all can decide if you want to use one or both.

Okay, I see the email address. Do you want PSD files or jpegs? I should say, these are whopping big even as jpegs.

(Speaking of sizes, I got as close to 6"x9" as I could; feel free to crop or resize if it suits you.)

Let me know what file type you want and I'll send them this evening.

JPEGS are good. We're not worried about the final formatting at the moment.
