Sure House is sarcastic. But he goes out of his way to snipe at people; he enjoys being annoying; he is mischievous. With Covenant, the sarcasm is only occasional, and used defensively. And House isn't even grouchy! He seems to placidly absorb whatever anyone says to him. I think the show is good, ...

Very British...
Being an American, all I've seen him in is House, which I think he is stellar in, and it kinda blows me away that he's British. He's very British! So what? Mel Gibson is Very Australian or whatever it is he is, and so is the Gladiator dude (it is very late here, and I cannot think of names to...

Hugh nomitated for Emmy
This is what I have been saying! Now my man Hughie has been nominated for an Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama! Not bad, I would say, for a man that someone passed off as an old comedian. From CNN tonight: The nominees for best actor in a drama are Hank Azaria ("Huff"), Hugh Laurie ("Hou...

And here we go, a great shot of the should-be T. Covenant
AKA Hugh Laurie. Not too old.

Still the Dude
I started this thread early on in the season, and now that we are to summer reruns and I have digested the entire run of season one I am more convinced than ever that Hugh Laurie is definitely the man for the job. So what if he is a bit older? So cast him older, if it gets the part right.
Go, Hugh!

I guess...
I guess I have the benefit of never having seen HL in anything before I saw House, so I have no prior characters bouncing around in my head. I guess maybe I saw him playing Stuart Little's "father" but that was really a bit part and not memorable at all to me. Other than than, I am a Hugh ...

I wasn't saying Robin Williams for TC
I wasn't saying Robin Williams for TC...just making a case for comedians transending their usual roles to do drama. Hugh Laurie was gonna due Perry White for the new Superman, but had to back out due to the popularity of House and it's subsequent scheduling conflicts. Perry White is arguably NOT a c...

Comedians moving to drama
What about Robin Williams? When he decides to do drama, he does it in style, and is completely believable. Any actor worth their salt should be able to make you forget who they were and believe who they are.

I agree!
I am gonna have a hard time imagining anyone else now who could be more appropriate. Laurie is uncannily TC in his sarcasm, and I think could really do justice to self-loathing. I don't care if he is older, makeup can help ther tons, and the Harry Potter and LOTR films have proven that movies can be...

I personally don't see him as too old. Though he is British, he manages to hide it well in House, and though he does have quite a bit of comedy in his past, House is a medical drama and he does a supurb job with the drama part. Who says TC can's be in his 40's? His character in the books acts too cr...

Hugh Laurie! He's already grouchy...
And I think he looks every inch the part. For those of you who do not know who he is, he plays Dr. Gregory House on Fox's new show, "House"
He plays a crotchety doctor with 0 bedside manner and a penchant for grumbling sarcasms. Sound like anyone we know?
