Yes, very good analysis!

It's hard to explain, but I find Nick Succorso to be even less loveable than Angus. Maybe it's because he is so coldly calculating, and so narcissistic.

Morn must be singularly low in self-esteem to fall for the crap Angus feeds her. She has betrayed no one and murdered no one. When someone has no control over their actions, their is no responsibility. Morn has to survive in an impossible situation. Her actions are justified by that. She should feel...

I agree. There are no excuses for Angus's evil actions. No matter what our past contains, we are still responsible for our actions. I was raped as an 11-year-old boy by a priest I trusted and revered. But I turned out pretty good. Not perfect, of course. Donaldson, in this series, seems to suggest t...

Nice work. I think it is Angus who wants to convince Morn that they are both murderers. I don't think of Morn as a murderer, myself. She had zero control over her actions. Gap sickness took over. She couldn't even recall what she did. Her actions did kill, but there was no way she could have known o...

The Gap Into Conflict: The Real Story - Chpt 16

Chapter 16 of the Real Story, features Angus Thermo-Pile at his lowest point, nearing despair. I will not do a summary of the chapter per se; I assume everyone has read it. If not, go back and do so before reading this any further. In general, the Real Story is a puzzle to the reader, purposely so. ...

I have to finally finish The Dosadi Experiment (the 'Courtarena' is about to begin!) and start A Wizard of Earthsea (for the read at the Hangar) and The Real Story for the group read here. But you know the second I start TRS Fatal Revenant will show up on my doorstep and I'll be an absolute mess! :...

By the way, anyone know how to pronounce China Mielville's name? I'm guessing Cheena Mee-ellville, rather than Mealville. You've got one too many "L's" in there; it's Mieville, with an accent on the e. I think it's Mee-ay-ville, too (or maybe Mee-ay-veal if your French). I found an audio ...

Perdido Street Station (Mieville): I'm about half-way through, and this book is a blast. Dude can really write. I thought that Perdido was a great read as well. Very different from anything I had read prior. Check out "The Scar" after you're done with Perdido. Hey, Ur-Ted, The second half...

[Mod Edit: Fatal Revenant reviews may contain spoilers for the novel. Read at own risk.] I was eager to read the second volume of The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. Though a vast introduction, The Runes of the Earth, with its cliffhanger ending, left fans begging for more. Hence, I couldn't wa...

Oh they do. :D Anyway, onwards and upwards...onto Forbidden Knowledge . --A It seems we are on parallel paths in this parallel universe. I'm on to Forbidden Knowledge now also. By the way, there is no truth to the non-existent rumor that the never-written 6th book of the series was to be named - Th...

Me too. :D

And Wizard of Earthsea for the Hangar Earthsea read. *sigh*

I hope the Gap and Earthsea reads don't overlap with the release of SRD's COTC3V2, due in October if I remember correctly!

Reading at the moment So Far from God, a history book about the Mexican American War of 1846-8, which genre often enters the realm of fantasy, doncha think? This book's pretty even-handed so far, though. But . . . Emotional Leper . . . why do you live . . . why is your location in Michigan!

I just read an ERB book, The Lad and the Lion, and now another called Beyond 39. My father gave me a bunch of these old chestnuts and I'm figuring which to toss and which to save. As for these two, don't bother.
