aTomic, good post. I think that this is why Donaldson's Covenenant books work well when dealing with rape. For one thing, we aren't told about the giant size of Thomas Covenant's goods or let into much of the detail at all about the rape that occurred, whereas Stephen King would have told us alot mo...

Well, about the "others" Remember the end of Season 2 episode, Michael asks, "Who are you people?" Ben (the other's leader as we know so far) replies, "We're the good guys Michael". Also, remember when Ben was pretending to be Henry Gale, and they questioned him about t...

I don't think King is overly gratuitous. Besides far worse happens in real life. The worst ending to a King book I've read has to be Desperation . After such a chilling start it was a real let down. I suppose that if we looked past the cleanable ceramic bowls of our toilets we would really know how...

You're right. The sweathouse & the return of Jon Locke to his mysterious ways is very fulfilling. Much better than the whiny woe-is-me daddy stuff. Also, Charlie has been a real hoot lately with his wry little smiles & dry little sarcasms. But it's quite funny & I like this far better th...

2 things I absolutely love about SK's writing

1: The stories are paced well. Unlike some writers who go on to describe everything in extensive detail for too many chapters, SK gives just enough narrative to propel the story and then it's back to the adventure. 2: He enjoys writing himself into corners. I really love that about him. He will come...

Okay, case in point, IT. This is a fantastic book cover to cover, with the sole exception of the ending. All of a sudden we have a turtle as the good guy??? Where's the kitten. Meow! Good grief. Sexual deviation is rampant in that book. They gangbang the girl & one of the kids is offered a blowj...

Actually, the answer to your question is on DVD Season 1 Boxed set. They explain how they do all that & why it looks that way. I wish it were more mysterious, but it's just budget constraints.

2 things I absolutely hate about SK's writing

1: In any horror story he writes, something sexually deviant always happens.

And while I agree that it could be terrifying, does it have to be in every horror story????

2: The dude just cannot finish a book well.

It's his greatest flaw.

Well Lost just like everything else is not perfect. Very good, but not perfect.

However, if I were to speculate, the burning would be from the medicine itself.

Sawyer got crabs from having sex with someone in Tallahassee Florida. You don't buy a salve ointment for herpes, you take pills. But crabs are bugs. So you need something external to put on them to kill them. That's what Sawyer & Jack were talking about. Of course, now that you know that I know,...
