Re: The Law of Return. Suggestions and Voting
Alright, if I can't get a consensus by the deadline, I'll submit an alternate gift, something for my own benefit. Here's the rules. You can only post suggestions for changes to the law or debate the merits of suggestions. No criticism of the Law in general. When you're sure how you'll vote, go ahea...

That's an interesting scenario. But the other god should be able to stop the plague, and considering the indirect nature, perhaps before it even affected his own followers. Sure, that god would then consider that he owes Rothmog one in return (if Xar wants conflict...). He could then do something in...

(a) Henceforth, any divine energy, positive or negative, exerted on or into Eiran with the purpose of affecting a divine party whose patron is not the initiator of the same shall be returned to its originator in a time and form to be dictated by the will of the Allfather. I guess it comes down to a...

The need to maintain conflict makes sense, and it's certainly something that should be considered. But I don't think the law precludes it, even if it does make starting it a little harder. It may sound callous, but how players designed their gods for the next game doesn't concern me much. Some were ...

I probably have no place saying this, but I honestly think that The Law of Return will make Pantheon nearly unworkable for Xar. And I honestly think you guys are overthinking it. Sure, the law as written is somewhat complex, but that's mainly to avoid nitpicking. The premise is simple : what you do...

No offense taken, Jove, nor anyone else. I expect and welcome debate (though the final word is still mine ;)). Anything that makes the gift stronger or better is good by my reckoning. Yes, ultimately it is up to Xar. I can't presume to tell him what to do in the game, only hope to give him a new too...

If it's a truly defensive move, the offending god should already be forfeit under the Law of Return, though just because a god believes it's defensive doesn't necessarily make it so. If a god employs a purely defensive action and another god later sends his followers to break his teeth on it, I don'...

So, for any action performed against any other player, players followers, etc, in the game, Xar will perform a corresponding action of equal or greater strength against the acting player. That is correct. Though how and when the corresponding action occurs is up to Xar, though I imagine the timelie...

Doesn't that law effectively prevent anyone from doing anything of consequence outside of their own followers? (f) The Law of Return is not intended to prohibit creative negativity, only to provide a measure of protection via retribution against its onset. If your nature requires you to do evil, st...

This may sound weird, but I am not willing to get closure at the cost of the end of the world for one reason: I like my followers. I like this world that we've all helped build. I really don't want to see them maimed, killed, widowed, or orphaned. Losing a god is bad enough, but at least what I had ...

My husband's wisdom has always moved me, but never so much as now in his choice of naming you friend. I speak for Simjen's people when I say we do not cry out in fear, but with fists raised. None among the dwarrow and giants, and certainly not myself, would hesitate to sacrifice our lives if it mean...
