To be honest I generally avoid classic literature. Mainly because I like reading for enjoyment and not if it is hard work.

Utter tosh.....how can a book this bad win a major prize?

Difficult to nail down ten books, probably because if I like a writer I tend to like all their stuff. So my top ten authors are:

5) Niven & Pournelle
6) Ted Dekker

Ken Kesey
