Love Gemmell's stuff. I've read Waylander 1 & 2, but not the 3rd one, and most of the rest of the Drenai books...

Just done some more digging around on t'interwebnet, and I'm now convinced I've found it. It is indeed Azimov's 'Lucky Starr and the Pirates of the Asteroids'. I looked on the Goodreads site, and saw a picture of the book's front cover, and recognised it straight away! Thanks for your help guys, now...

Thanks for the link. I've looked through it, and the closest one I can see is 'Lucky Starr and the Pirates of the Asteroids' by Paul French (Isaac Azimov pseudonim). I'm not 100% sure it's the right one. I'll keep on looking. The squirrel I'm pretty sure was in the book because Earth's resources had...

I guess my experiences in other forums has left me feeling somewhat jaded. In nearly every other forum I'm a member of, people tend to take offence at the least little thing. So I'll admit to making the assumption that this forum would be like all the others. I'm glad to see that I've been proven wr...

Not only have I read all 3 volumes of LoTR many times, I've also read The Hobbit, The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales just as many times. I'm a bit of a Tolkein fan you see...!

Haven't seen any in the Dissections, SRD forums and many others yet. I meant elsewhere on the internet. Every other forum I'm a member of has Ponies/Bronies in them. Anyway, like I said, my original comment was made in jest, and was in no way meant to be taken seriously... I haven't got off to a ve...

Well, The Real Story is short enough that you don't lose much. Personally, like you, I never had a problem with it. (Or the first TC book for that matter.) I was hooked from the go. Just the style of the writing. Try get the edition with the long afterword by SRD where he explains quite a bit about...

Trying to remember the title of a book I read many years ago

I remember reading a Sci-Fi novel whilst at middle school. It was the book that got me into Sci-fi in the first place (apart from Star Wars of course!). Problem is, I just can't for the life of me remember what it was called, or who wrote it! It was the story of a boy living in the future, whos fath...

I love the Gap Cycle because of the way the roles of the main characters change;

Victimiser to Victim
Victim to Saviour
Saviour to Victimiser

Plus I just can't resist a good multiple double-cross!!

Long time SRD fan, just discovered this place

Hi all. I've been a fan of SRD for a long, long time. I love most Sci-Fi & Fantasy, but, along with Tolkein, SRD's books are the ones I return to most often. I love the depth and richness of the narrative in all his books, but my favourites are The Gap series.
