Your wish is granted, but you have a time machine that works like Groundhog Day and that day is repeated over and over...forever!

I wish I had some days off work right now...

Where I live [South-West England] we joke that you never get more than three days of weather the same - but it's actually pretty true. Our entire weather forecast can be summed up in one word; Changeable! When I lived in New Hampshire it was similar - you just didn't know what you were going to get...

Logical truths are self-evident, via logical necessity To a certain extent yes, but within a closed system can you really prove anything definitively? Godel's incompleteness theorems suggest that you cannot prove anything as an observer within that closed system. Logic is probably the best thing we...

Any particular truth can never be self-evident to all. It's an abstract concept that relies on the subjectivity of the observer; two people can both claim to know the truth yet both argue that the other person's truth is untrue.

Truth is at best a personal opinion that others also subscribe to.

ADHD

It's odd timing that I looked at and posted in the depression thread, as there has been a strange turn of events since my last session with my therapist yesterday. I was talking about how I so often have so many things going on in my mind sometimes and when I'm under stress I have trouble pulling it...

re The Punk era nihilism; I guess Sid and nancy lived the most pure version of that [or the most ridiculous depending on your stance], but the refusal to adhere to the social norms of the day was rather a rejection than a denial wasn't it? As Hashi observed, these are not really the same thing, tho...

It speaks volumes that he was singled out by Britain for an assassination attempt (by French assassins if I remember correctly?). Also, I think most people are unaware of how little direct involvement Hitler had in the Holocaust other than approving the various plans that Himmler brought before him....

It might be just that I like my monsters to be monsters and don't want to run the risk of putting a human face into the picture that I might empathise with. Silly I know but..... I th...
