"Beware the halfhand"

Curiously enigmatic phrase, this, and the author has gone out of his way to bombard us with halfhands who we might want to beware of, but I think I know who the halfhand is going to be. Just before she's killed and transposed to the Land, Roger/Foul points out to Linden that her hand is bleeding, an...

Certainly, the comment about seeing someone else for a moment satisfies me, if nothing else, that there's something up. Yeah well a bit of earthpower could be normal in Revelstone. But in truth I don't believe it either. I think it very likely she's Esmer's mother, but that's just my instinct in re...

the Madoubt could be a merewife -- then again could she be "the woman whom Kastenessen loved Quite possibly, but recall too the author's own words on the subject: "RK: Madness is important to you – your characters tend to live on the edge. Stephen Donaldson: Most of them, yes, but there a...

Ok I thought I'd gather up some of the quotes and thoughts that make me think more and more that the Mahdoubt is the merewife mother of Esmer. Obviously all speculation but it seems to have some merit.... Esmer: "The dancers of the sea loath the love they call forth." Compare this with... ...

Incidently if the Mahdoubt is a merewife, it would account for why Kastenessen stopped the Demondin levelling Revelstone. His child is in there.

Parenthood seems to be a theme of this chronicle.

No, sir; the speculation that the Sandgorgons defy time is yours, not mine. My evidence is that there is nothing anywhere that indicates that this has happened. Show me something that points out otherwise. Hmm I have to agree with Wayfriend that there is no proof that Sandgorgons defy time. Neverte...

You can also have a dead body in the real world and a living body in the land, as with Hile Troy. SRD said if you die in the real world you stay in the land permanently.

A theory that occcured to me last night about the Mahdoubt: She wants to associate with Haruchai. She appears to have (possibly residual) earthpower which the Haruchai nevertheless cannot detect, and her eyes and her being reflect a capacity to reconcile conflict and paradox. She's also old. One of ...

And Vain as well, within the staff. It's a regular family reunion.

So where are the Viles?

Maybe not; but going back the whole 3000 years to retrieve it left a catastrophic hole. In fact, it's pretty clear that Linden herself caused the Staff to go missing by going back in time to retrieve it. If it had never been missing, it would never have gone missing: a lovely example of time-travel...

Lots of people have made those same predictions here in this forum. I was one of those who thought that the removal of the Staff of Law would facilitate Foul's resurrection, as Stave indirectly warned. It would seem odd if there were no consequence of removing the Staff of Law from time, as we know...

There is something in this, but we have no understanding yet of the Demondin's motives and true nature. Their reasons for being there and the alliances and compulsions they operate under are not clear. You could take it one step further and say no-ones' motives are especially clear or logical in thi...

I seem to recall that Stave explicitly states that it was after the loss of the Staff of Law and their failure to find it that they started their mastery.

if anyone can quote any references to the haruchai sleeping in the 2nd chron or runes for that matter, other than drugings or being knocked unconscious please do to clarify this. I'm fairly certain we've never seen them sleep in the second chronicles, but it's said many times that the lack of sleep...

Well I guess it's the best a Ramen (singular Raman?) can come up with.

Anyway to answer the question, Bannor slept, after he stopped being a Bloodguard iirc.
