I haven't had time to post much lately. I finally have the chance to disagree with everyone. :D Z: Language, written language, recordings, digital storage, working together, using computers... Huge advantages. Increased memory, faster thinking, greater accuracy in ways, and others. But even with al...

That said, we've found things that can't be perceived, so I guess they must have been imagined. :D

But you have no hope of understanding what you perceive without imagination.

Aren't we falling into the Wittgensteinian trap of arguing about the definition of "Knowledge"? In my opinion something must be imagined before it can be described scientifically. Therefore, a predicate for knowledge it the ability to concieve (imagine) the knowledge's existence. An imagin...

Zarathustra, Oh, please don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying the IT implies the supernatural. I'm simply saying it suggests knowledge of our Universe from our interal perspective will always be limited. That's what, in my opinion, David Deutsch means when he talks about "The beginning of infi...

Incompleteness theorem. You cannot prove a system from within the system. You have to go outside to do that. As we are trapped within this universe we are incapable of proving all truths in this universe.

People keep saying this is going to blow up. I'll believe it will be a problem for Sec. Clinton when it actually becomes a problem for Sec. Clinton.

Zarathustra,

I'm curious to see what will happen too. However, I suspect you may be overstating this a bit. How much has been thrown at Sec. Clinton that has yet to stick?

We will see. Until we see I doubt it will amount to much but admit I may be wrong.

Sgt.,

As much as I like that idea I don't believe Congress or the Federal Government has the authority to blanket force such changes. The individual States would have that authority. Perhaps we should move on something like this on a State by State level?

Hashi,

One of the biggest flaws I see in representative democracy as a form of government is that we give power to people who want power. The US was excedingly lucky in the sense of duty felt by the founding Generation.

Cail, Cail, Why do you say the Clinton campaign is falling apart? More importantly, why do you think it's not? She's losing her commanding lead to Bernie Sanders, who isn't a real candidate. Investigation after investigation isn't going well for her, and there's a good chance she'll be indicted befo...

wayfriend, The possibility of our entire percieptions being false, while an interesting philosphical idea, doesn't really help keep our bellies full and our lungs pumping. Either we are in a solipsistic wonderland or our perciptions are fairly accurate representations of reality. I know which one I'...

It depends upon the nature of the facts being discussed. Personal observations are normally subjective because they are being filtered though our subjective consciousnesses. However, I do believe some abstratctions, like mathematical observations, can be objective. What is done with those observatio...
