Fuzzys and Frostys Scottish Adventure 25th-26th June 2016

Post by hue of fuzzpaws »

Once upon a time, Fuzzy decided to travel all the way to Edinburgh. When he arrived there, he entered a bar for some refreshment and found

this young lady waiting.

They then decided to visit this place

for the afternoon.

And very nice too! :D
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

That architecture. 8O

Guessing 1446 was the year it was built? We have nothing like that here.

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

Well, in 1446 y'all were notably lacking in architects and stone masons etc.

I remember visiting Lincoln Cathedral and being pretty amazed that it had been standing on that spot for almost 1,000 years. (Construction started in 1088.)

No pics from inside Rosslyn? (For them as is unaware, that was the church from The Da Vinci Code. :D )

Afraid not :( . Most surfaces are carved, so it takes a lot of time to see all the detail

One of the highlights is the Masons and the Apprentice pillars.

Some views from Castle Law of the Pentland Hills

They'd forbidden cameras inside the chapel. On the other hand, Rosslyn is fairly cramped and a honey jug for buzzing tourists these days, so if everyone'd teem around with selfie sticks, poking at the carvings and one another, nobody'd acquire a chance to appreciate the lavish interior.

Our original itinerary was Lindisfarne, but due to insufficient train connections, have to retry that next year. I've threatened to don my period garb and bear the raven flag whilst doing so.

How appropriate for the site of the first recorded "Viking" raid on what would one day become England. :D
