Ah shame, that's sad to hear. 6 does seem a lot for a first litter...is she a big cat?

I wouldn't say she's large. She seems very average size, and only a year and two or three months old. She's smaller than her brother.

Unfortunately, I just today got the news that I have to be out of my house in 45 days. That's not much time to get them weened and adopted out

It's an awkward conversation with a potential landlord, "Well, I got three dogs and seven cats...." (Three dogs and TWO cats is awkward enough!....Personally, I have two dogs, but my sister's family, who is living with me, and I may be going with them potentially, comes with a dog and the 2+ cats.)

Edit: We adopted the cats while they were living with me, but the cats are supposed to be theirs, even though Luna is 100% my cat. I'm the only one she is close to, and I've become quite fond of her. Just figured this part is worth mentioning lol....I think if we do split ways, I may try to keep her if no one wants to argue the point.

We adopted yet another in a line of cats other expats had to leave behind. Dusty is a beautiful, small, brindled female. She is a darling. I was really sad to leave her for the 7 months we'll be in America this year, but I left her in good hands.

Good luck, Shuram. I've been in your shoes, and I wish I had some advice to give.

One of the first feral cat colonies I took care of had a cat named Luna - she was a little mama cat too - 4 kittens - some drama as the site they lived at was being demolished and I had to move them, and they were too wild to be adoptable - ended up finding them a home on a farm - didn't stay in contact but I like to think they were happy there catching mice and not worrying about city hazards.

Anyway, I've always liked that name.

Anyhoo, I find myself in an odd mood, tonight, apparently

Anyhoo, we have a house, a new place to move into, and already have the deposit and first month rent paid. We can have pets, with an extra pet deposit, so the whole furry lot of em are coming over with us. It means moving to a new town in a new state, but hey, we are making it work

Soooooo...anybody want a kitten?

I don't have pictures of cats, but more on the prevalence of the name "Luna" for a cat...

My sis & I got a kitten named "Luna" when we were kids!
The only cat we had when we lived in the suburbs.
We had a wooden playhouse that she would climb up on top of, and we'd let her "style" our hair. (i.e. make a mess of it with her paws)

That's great, Shuram - so glad your whole family landed on their feet, so to speak.

It's been a long time since I had a kitten - my current brood were all adopted as adults. Kitten season is in full bloom at the shelter I volunteer at, and I won't say I'm never tempted. Phedre might like a little friend - she likes to play mama cat, and doesn't really care if the 'baby' is older than her, but my other two cats aren't into being pinned down and forcibly groomed.

Ha, the rare occasions when all 3 (now) of mine are in the house at the same time are fraught for everybody involved.

They tried to recruit me for the kitten foster program this year. It usually involves bottle-feeding kittens that are too young to be adopted. NOPE. I know my weaknesses. I'd end up keeping that kitten.

Just finished my first year with my first two cats! I've had pet rats before, but these are my first big house creatures. I LOVE it. Although the drive by slashings are getting a little old. They're siblings and only a little over a year, so they're super chill with each other, no social problems.

Nice to see you around Balon.

Damn cats. Don't even get me started. My ginger was out for 12 hours yesterday, so was terribly worried about him. He turned up at 19h30 last night, ate and promptly went out again.

Day before I had to rescue a baby grey loerie from my newest adoptive cat, (being a loerie, the baby is about as big as a pigeon), then had to keep the cat in while its parents cajoled it into flying. Seems to have managed to get away, so that's a relief.

And my fluffy She-Demon seems to have lost a whole lot of fur on her tail, so will have to keep an eye on that.

Damn cats.

This is exactly my terror of my kitties eventually going outside if we move somewhere suitable. I think one of them would love the outdoors so much I'd basically never see them again

If you've already got them trained to indoors, keep them that way is my advice, even if you move. I wish mine were indoor cats.

My cats are indoor/outdoor. I had a dog pen at my old house that dogs had access to via doggy door. Eventually the cats figured out the doggy door, and, of course, easily defeated the dog pen.

So, during the move, Saturn was no where to be seen, and wasn't around when we were going back for the last few car loads. I was sick with worry that he wouldn't show up, but he finally did before we were fully moved.

But now at the new house, he keeps trying to dart out the open doors. He got out this morning and I didn't have time to retrieve him. He just ran by a window with a dog two or three cat-lengths behind him! He found sanctuary under the neighbors porch. Two nights ago he snuck out and got in a fight with a large orange cat that seems to think he owns my yard.

I worry about him getting chased off and lost in this strange new city
