Where would you like to live

Post by shadowbinding shoe »

If you could choose any place to live, in Mordant and beyond, where would it be? Assume it's post war and friendly rulers reign in all three kingdoms.

My choice: Cadwal's capitol. Great architecture, the Ocean, visitors from distant lands.

Hmmm, never really gave it much thought. Off the top of my head, probably Orison. Always liked big castles. :D

Cadwal's capital of Carmag would no doubt have a lot of interesting things to do. But Domne's pastoral countryside, the deep blanketing forests of Fayle, and the presence of superior wine in Termigan also have their appeal for me.

It's an interesting question, shadowbinding shoe. I'll have to give it some more thought before making a decision! :!:

It's too bad I can't just cheat and say I'd like a winter home in Carmag and a summer home in the Care of Domne (or can I say that?).

I suppose you might, Cord Hurn but desert climate is extremely hot at day and extremely cold at night in both winter and summer. Not sure about how the sea affect this though hopefully you and I won't suffer from sweltering humidity. I trust the wisdom of the Cadwal forefathers. Carmag's location was chosen for a reason.

I agree, Carmag's location was chosen for a reason, and I suspect the mitigating influence of the sea on temperature variations was part of the reason!

At the moment, I'm leaning toward Fayle. I do like the forest a lot! Still pondering this...

Well, for sure I'd like to be in Domne in the springtime! Especially after reading this passage where Geraden is enthusiastically talking to Terisa about it.
In The Mirror Of Her Dreams Chapter 11 was wrote:["]Domne is the most beautiful of the Cares--especially in the spring, when the apple trees and dogwood and redbud come out, and some of the hills as far as you can see are wooded in blooms--and I loved exploring it, playing in places like the Closed Fist, riding like wild around the skirts of the mountains."

Donaldson is good with nature descriptions. Both good and bad.

I'd like to live in a house like Madin's and Torrent's in Fayle. Forest fires, demon children and mysterious raider ridden landslides are a drag but the house and the surrounding forest sounded beautiful
