I am not by and large a fan of funny books (I could never get along with Diskworld for example) but I do like them when they really..... really.......make me laugh!

A few examples of one's that have worked for me are Uncle Dynamite by P G Woodhouse, The Ascent of the Rum-Doodle by WE Bowman........

and probably the funniest book I have ever read Wilt by Tom Sharpe!

C'mon guys - I need a laugh! Gimme your best shot!

Ive got a Young Ones book and its hilarious.. not many books make you laugh out loud .. this one did.

I love the James Herriot books 📚 about life as a vet .. thats got some hilarious LOL moments.

Well, Hitchhikers books and Dirk Gently of course.

Christopher damn Moore. Especially Practical Demonkeeping, A Dirty Job, and Lamb:....Pal.
Fool not so much though. Had it's moments, but mostly not.

There's a lot more by many people that's amusing with SOME gut-burst moments...

And, of course, as I ALWAYS mention when people talk funny, the short story linked below. An absolute must read. I mean that. I think every person in the world should have to take 10 minutes [or less, it's that short] and read it.
And it has a sad kicker ending, to boot.

Uh...funny books...mostly my comedy reading is limited to Terry Pratchett. ;)

I mean, Douglas Adams, sure, but not usually "laugh out loud" funny.

Grant and Naylor (Red Dwarf books) are pretty funny. Tom Holt, not too bad often, but sorta think of him as a poor man's Pratchett / Gaiman. :D

Yeah, the James Herriot books were not bad. I usually find Gerald Durrell's books to contain some amusing moments.

I just don't really look for comedy in my books I guess. :D

Actually thats a good point.. its nice when its part of the narrative and the impact is better .. 😂

How could I forget Pratchett and Hitchhikers guide lol 😂

I love humour and relish comedic moments in a good book 📚

I always enjoyed "The Ransom of Red Chief" a short story by O Henry.

A lot of stories/movies have followed the same formula - kidnapping gone awry and the kidnapped person causing havoc for the kidnappers.

Anyways since a short story doesn't take too long to power through and good for some good laughs.

High Lord Elena's anundivian yajna sculpture of Thomas Covenant.
Trying to imagine the roughness and inaccuracy of his features had me in fits of laughter for hours and hours. My sides literally ached.

I must impress that the Illearth War was anything but funny. I guess it had been a way for me
to deal with a real life situation concerning overimportance and blind misrepresentation.

The books .. oddly enough .. for a fantasy series .. do assist with real world problems that occasion ones life, if youre open to that.
