Well done, shadowbindingshoe, for that is the answer! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
In Chapter 39 of AMRT was wrote:Behind the Castellan, six guards and as many captains led by Norge rushed from the stairwell one at a time to engage the Monomach's Apts.
_______________________________________

Norge stooped, snatched up one of the bows. So placidly that he didn't seem to be hurrying, he flipped a shaft into Apt's throat.

Across the hall, one of Gart's men recklessly flung a dagger. It should have missed from that distance: its target should have seen it coming. Unluckily, he didn't. The guard went down with the blade buried in his left eye.

Norge shot the Apt cleanly in the chest.

That was a little easy. It's Norge debut scene after all. ;)

Okay. What does Gart dream of?

You are correct Sir Cord Hyrn! 8)

If Gart wasn't twisted by his monomach training maybe he'd be a cricus acrobat? He liked jumping from high places, throwing balls and knives at fares, making his dead victims disappear into thin air. He's got flair in spades. He's already perfect at it.

Thanks, SS!

Yes, Gart would make a good circus performer. Not only is he very acrobatic, but he is also a skilled juggler.

My new question:

According to the Termigan, what would an Imager have to do to gain his trust?

This one was easy, so I was hoping someone else would take it upon themselves to jump in. But, there has been dead silence...

There's a clue buried in this message, by the way. If nobody else answers, I'll have to. I'm pretty sure Cord Hurn can see that I know the answer, though. (I feel kinda like Penn and Teller giving one of their "You didn't fool us, but we won't give away your secret." responses...)

Ah yes, Sanity, if none of the others reading "take it upon themselves" to answer this trivia question, please feel free to answer openly whenever you're ready! ;) It's better than the dead silence, for sure! :)

Damn.

Ok, why didn't Eremis know how well prepared the Congery was to assist in the defence of Orison after he fled?

I think Eremis believed he'd fooled Barsonage into wasting all the Congery's time in trying to find out how to translate flat mirrors into curved mirrors, and he didn't realize that the Congery was experimenting with creating and erasing a chasm.

His answer is a pivot. Right events, wrong sequence...

Eremis claimed to have "recovered" from filling the reservoir, and offered to help. Barsonage then claimed that the Congery was focused on learning the trick. Eremis then (thought he) distracted them with the "almost right" answer, and went on about his plotting.

Imma give it to you IS. :D

He believed that because Barsonage deceived him. :D
I concealed the Congery's true work from Master Eremis. I lied to him about it. I allowed him to see no sign of if, play no part in it. He does not know how well prepared we are to assist in the defense of Orison.

Thanks!

New question (hint, same scene - I was going to talk about this piece and realized it would make a good question itself)

What shocks Barsonage when he's explaining all of this to Gereden?

That Geraden had come up with the same idea that Eremis proposed for how flat mirrors could be used?

Yes. While Barsonage and the rest of the Congery were amazed at the idea itself, Barsonage realized from Geraden's expression that it was its failure in testing that surprized Geraden.
