Setup: Character Creation
Time to decide who you are. As detailed in the Game Guide, there are a number of things you need to decide for your character before we can get things rolling. We're going to start with the basics of your identity before we get into the nitty gritty of the character sheet.
I don't need you to answer all of this immediately - take some time to consider, and I also encourage you to talk to your fellow players about who your character is and how you relate to each other.
Bearing in mind the initial scenario of this campaign - you're part of a crew assembled to pull off a bank heist - I'd like each player to answer the following questions. This is all public information - what the players know about you. If there is anything about your character which is not known to the other members of the party, please contact me by PM.
1. What is your name?
2. What is your role?
Give a two word summary of your character's archetype (see Game Guide - Creating Characters).
3. How long have you worked for Hestor Rum?
Were you hired for just this job, or have you worked with him before?
4. Why did Rum choose you for this job?
5. Do you have any other reason for wanting to come to the Heartland?
Are you just here for the pay, or is there something else that drew you to this job?
6. Choose a colour. I'll use this to indicate when I'm addressing your character, so it's easier to keep track of when a response is needed.
If you like you can also offer up other information about your character beyond these questions, such as a physical description.

The King has one more move.

Money Bags
I've been Rum's accountant for several years.
I was just a kid, living in alleyways. Rum occasionally paid me to do odd jobs. Usually deliver a message. Pick up something at the bakery. Maybe throw a rock through someone's window. I noticed his trusted employee, the guy who handled his money, stealing from him. When I told him about it, he punched me. Hard. But I told him what I saw, and he thought it was either a good lie or the truth. So he kept his eye out, and caught the guy in the act. He never told anybody what happened to the guy. Much to everyone's surprise, I ended up being good with numbers, so I became his accountant not much later.
I go where my employer goes. Although the Heartland sounds very intriguing.
If you would be so kind.

1: Name: Richard Slade
2: Role: Experienced Thief
3: Has worked for Hester before on small jobs, but is totally on board with an ambitious heist.
4: Rum has chosen him for his ability to steal stuff without detection. He is very adept in crowds, and petty theft, and he believes he can step up to more ambitious jobs.
5: Slade has dreams of becoming independent financially, whether it is to remain in the Heartland long term, or settle somewhere else. He sees no alternative than to be involved in the heist in order to set himself up as his own boss.
6: Colour Grey

On further reflection, I couldn't think of a good reason why I'm delaying the character sheet stuff, other than that I thought this first step would be over much faster.
Please can each of you contact me by PM to go over assigning your attributes (Power, Finesse, Wit, Charm, and Faith, assigned the values +2, +1, +1, 0, and -1), and your Traits (two things your character is good at, given a +2 and +1 bonus to rolls; the higher value Trait also earns XP when used). Then we can get into creating a starting item or special move for your character.
This is an example list of Traits, but it is not exhaustive and we may need to negotiate a little about some of these because of the XP system.
