Well, they're certainly tragic and brutal. I usually don't have any problem separating the author from their works, (L Ron Hubbard and OSC perhaps cases in point) but unfortunately the books just get a bit meh.

Well, after I finished Bakker, I went and re-read the "Rivers of London" books again. Busy on Book 9 (False Value) now, which is the latest(ish).

Finished the Witcher saga except for Season of Storms and have started Wheel Of Time by Robert Jordan. I’m not sure what to read next from my list except finishing the Last Dark. Maybe Earthsea Cycle by le Guin..

Earthsea is one of my top few favorites. Along with Malazan and Neverness. I recommend either of those if you haven't read them.

Wheel of Time is...variable. :D Book 1-6 are great, 7-10 are progressively worse, then it picks up again in book 11.

I'm fine with the Sanderson conclusions.

I started reading CJ Cherryh's Foreigner, and got a few chapters in.

The problem is all the false starts.
You get into the story, meet some characters, then BAM- next chapter is a hundred years later or something.

I got tired of starting over in it and put it down, then googled the plot and found out the one I'm in is the *real* beginning of the book. I might pick it up again later today.

Well, I wanted to know if the entire book was like that.

Turns out the last start I'm in is actually the main character for the next 10 books in the series, so I think the false starts are over. They were essentially an extended introduction.

I have been reading "Sovereign of the Seven Aisles" by Wells, David A.

You know, although the main characters continue to be over-powered so they can win, I got drawn in anyway and here I am 7 books later. :lol:

I recommend it for easy reading and fun but don't expect anything high-brow.

The Dragonfall Trilogy - Mixes tech with magic. Was an interesting read. Loved the very last sentence of the third book. :)

Are they connected to the "Seven Isles" books? Or different universe?

Anyway, just finished "What Abigail Did That Summer," a Rivers of London novella (set at the same time as book 5). As always, recommend all these books.

And am about to start The God Is Not Willing, first of Steven Erickson's new trilogy about Karsa Orlong from the Malazan Book of the Fallen.

If you bothered visiting the discord, you would have seen the discussion. :D Holsety actually told me it was out...we're pretty much on the UK publishing timeline here for most stuff.

He and LuciMay got theirs from bookdepository.com though.
