Obi-Wan Kenobi
Watched the first 2 episodes of this, (mainly 'cause Ewan McGregor), and didn't hate it.

I agree. Seems a little lackluster out of the gate but there is potential.
Acting aside from McGregor seems a bit sub par.
Main antagonist actress struggling to deliver lines with the kind of conviction her character should have but could just be settling into the role. Film quality effects.

Yes, agree with that...didn't find the...Inquisitors...all that compelling. Still, hoping that will smooth out.aTOMiC wrote:Main antagonist actress struggling to deliver lines with the kind of conviction her character should have but could just be settling into the role.
Also, young Leia seemed a lot younger than she was supposed to be. ::shrug::

Agree, the young actress who is playing Leia seems too young, but she is 10 years old.

I enjoyed the 3rd episode. There were a few moments when I was questioning the choices made by Kenobi but I accept that to tell a specific story you sometimes have to move your peices around the board in an odd way to achieve your goal. That's a writer and director problem not the fault of the actors. The actress playing young Leia is starting to grow on me a bit as is the main antagonist though I still think she needs to sell her lines a bit more instead of just growling.
I just read that some butthole fans are giving her a hard time because of her race. I'm sure that's a vocal minority of instigators. I hope the creative team looks past it and treats it for what it is... idiotic.
I like where the series is heading. Looking forward to more.

I just finished 3.
I like it.
I like how messed up Ben is (not too much).
He should be!
Vader was absolutely brutal, maybe even more than at the end of Rouge One.
I like how the Stormtroopers are portrayed.
Just doing their jobs.
I think the whole thing pretty solid.
If they suddenly make it the Reva show and/or all about her redemption then fuck it, SW is dead to me.
But so far so good.

Racism is an old thing with Star Wars "fans". John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran were both harassed on social media.

That there is a historical pattern of this behavior toward non-White cast members doesn't justify or excuse it. Not acceptable.
Interesting that there has never really been a pushback against James Earl Jones voicing Vader. Previously, one might justify this with saying he was a villain (thin gruel...) but now that there is a non-White antagonist being attacked (rather than just protagonists), the case for race being a factor in certain fan responses is more clear.

So bizarre...it's not like she was some existing canon character, in which case I could see some argument being made...(I'm looking at you Idris Elba's Roland Deschain (although that said...that was the least of the problems with that damn movie...))...she's literally nobody in terms of the SW universe...why do people care? (Other than literal garden variety racism?)

Personally, I think the racism in SW fandom is just low lying fruit for morons.
I have no doubt that if the internet was around in the late 70s, James Earl Jones would have gotten shit on by morons too.
Daisy Ridley is white and she swore off social media because of morons.
Morons can't separate acting from reality.
They think because an actor plays a part that they don't like it's ok to attack the actor.
They should be telling the writers, directors and producers that they suck.
Also, morons can't separate reality from acting.
I can't stand Alex Baldwin's politics or social commentary. Or that he's abusive to his kids. Or that he occasionally murders someone.
But I like and enjoy most of his onscreen work.
John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran both played characters, that to me, sucked.
Daisy Ridley's character, sucked.
Adam Driver's character sucked but he was so good he made it good.
Ahmed Best....I didn't know until today that he was black!
Come on, seriously?
Holy shit, Lucas, that's racist as fuck!
Disney is a freaking joke on racism though.
John Boyega gets shrunk and moved on a poster for China.
Black Panther gets his black face covered for China.
A slave labor location gets praised for the live action production of Mulan (which sucked by the way)
I'm know there's more that I stopped caring about.

When you look at an apple with a bruise you can't help but define that apple by the minor imperfection and not the appealing remainder.
"Toxic" fans are a tiny, vocal, minority that should be ignored.
We shouldn't even hear about them but thanks to social media and the easily offended champions of other people's justice we are treated to a view of an ugly bruise that affects our perception of what should be a beautiful piece of fruit.
