Scott Brick and Colossus
I have been doing the first chronicles audiobooks recently on long drives and Colossus in tPtP may be Brick's best work. He nailed that small group of characters and fist of rock. The interractions were perfectly read and distinguishable dialogue was gripping. I have never been an audiobook fan but in order to satisfy my Covenant Completionist Syndrome, I made myself buy and listen to first and second chronicles. glad I did. They are fantastic and Brick really captures the mood of Lord Mhorams Victory and Unbeliever chapters also.

Is there a way to tag Watchers on the new forum? audiocovenant may appreciate the mention.

While nothing jumped out at me on that particular scene, I can say that Brick's Stave Voice and his Tor Voice are quite delightful and are my most favorite aspects of his work. For the Tor, he's clearly channeling Orson Welles. I don't know where Stave comes from, it's both completely unusual and completely perfect.
I will have to go and re-listen to this part again.

9 characters. one icon of earthpower. all moving in different directions until the end. its like a choregraphed dance. I may be prejudiced as its one of my favorite chapters in the series.

Sorry. I meant to say that nothing jumped out at me about the audio reading of this. Of course the scene is impressive. And of course Brick's rendering is impressive. Immersed in the story, I probably stopped noticing the reader, which is just the way it should be.Diamondraughtaholic wrote: ↑9 characters. one icon of earthpower. all moving in different directions until the end. its like a choregraphed dance. I'm Whispersyncing in my current reread. So far, I think Scott Bricks narration is good. Not the best I've experienced, but definitely keeping me engaged. We'll see whether I revise this upwards as I get deeper into the series.
I am grateful that we have good audio versions though - it's become a very important medium for me since my time for 'pure reading' is rather more limited than I'd like.

I've never heard them, either.

I'm a HUGE fan of Brick's readings for the Covenant books. In fact, it's the way I've revisited them over the past decade. I'm currently in TIW, "The Rock Gardens of the Maerl," and Brick really captures the mood of Covenant's tale of the leprous woman with the irrepressible smile.

Just double-checked the unnamed major book seller who sells lots more than books. The audio books for almost/all of SRDs works are there, including GGW3.
