As is my habit, I'm going to tug on loose threads left by prior questions...

When Nick put Liete in command of Captain's Fancy, what was she supposed to accomplish? What did she do instead, and why?

Not looking for the whole complicated story, just the central facts of what his orders to her were and what / why the actual outcomes were.
