Runes #18 on New York Best Seller List

Post by Seareach »

It's #18 this week! :letsparty:

Quoted from the NYT List: "Rankings reflect sales, for the week ending October 23, at almost 4,000 bookstores plus wholesalers serving 50,000 other retailers (gift shops, department stores, newsstands, supermarkets), statistically weighted to represent all such outlets nationwide"

Keep climbing, baby.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

It was 21 last week...so it's going slowly!
BUT it will get there! It was released in Australia yesterday, and there were heaps of copies going out the door at my bookstore. I couldn't help myself: it was a UK edition (I have the US one) so I bought it as well. Just doing my bit! :D

Ah, Seareach, I envy you your UK edition. I love that cover.

I actually like both editions for different reasons (yeah, I know we're just talking asthetics here...but - !):

I love Whelan's art but there's something about the UK cover that really grabs me. Don't know whether it's the black and gold OR whether it's because it looks different from a lot of the other covers on books at the moment. That said, I think the US book format (font, layout etc) is a lot nicer than the UK version.

Sorry...I know this is *not* what this thread is supposed to be about! But it's my thread and....

ONLY JOKING!

GO RUNES...we should lay bets on what number it will be next week! I'm thinking about #11!

The week ending November 20th it will be at #2!

But Leper Fairy you're on: if it's #13 next week I'll shout you a cyber-drink!

I haven't been able to locate a UK best sellers chart on the net so far. It's at 59 in amazon.co.uk's Hot 100 Books though. Twenty places behind Iain M. Banks' latest, which I think is pretty good going. I have to wonder how sales will have been effected by Waterstones' inability to stock it though.

A. Because proper tea is theft.

You must be from the midwest. I also purchased a signed copy - I found it with the rest of the editions during my Christmas shopping. I am very pleased! :S
