That is one of the funniest things I've read in a long time.

Oh yeah, remembered that the other movie was Sphere. Not that it was so bad, but I'd just read the book and was feeling extremely dissappointed.

Now I'll grant you that I havent seen In the Mouth of Madness since it was in the theater, but I just remember thinking "Man, John Carpenter's lost it". What do you mean I didn't get the point of Event Horizon? I thought it was a dumb movie, which had un-interesting plot line. Disgusting images like fly larvae on a human face to me is not what hell would be like. It would be gross at first, but I think I would get over it. And those strobe lights...very hellish...they should make a video game based on Event Horizon. Oh wait, they did...Doom. Oops, I have my chronology wrong, they made the movie based on the video game!!!

Besides, I thought it was terrible and I can pretty well parse a movie for myself. If you liked it, GREAT! You didn't waste your money like I did.

By the way, a movie that I would have walked out of if the popcorn had run out (free refills) was "Pitch Black". I thought the plot holes were so big you could drive a semi through them. A planet full of animals that have nothing to eat except once every 70 years (or whatever) wwhen someone gets stranded there. Jees, and they even made a sequel. AND, people here are going to say I'm crazy and that it was a great movie....It takes all kinds!!!

You missed something big there, Urbanite - the monsters eat each other. There's a scene in the film where you're clearly shown some of them tearing each other apart.

OK, but if no other life forms exist and canabalism is rampant, a population pretty much doesn't have a chance, unless they are breeding faster than rabbits. They seem pretty famished, so I figured they just attacked each other because they were in a feeding frenzy. Plus, why didn't they just eat each other in the darkness underground, instead of coming to the surface to eat the measly few morsels walking about?

I suppose you could explain it that they come to the surface when the suns are blocked to start a breeding cycle and when they are in that, they are very territorial. That would explain why they came to the surface, why it was such a bad time to land there and why they were attacked. Maybe there are other underground things to eat.

OK, I wasn't crazy about the movie, but I guess there could be a plausible explanation of why the montsters did what they did. I'm sold...complaint withdrawn.

Not that far removed from Covenant/Lena except there was no rape in American Beauty. My point being: Judging American Beauty on Spacey's character lusting after a teenager is very much like judging TC on the Lena thing.

I walked out of the Blair Which Project. What a filthy piece of crap.

However, I am with Foul on American Beauty. If you had watched the whole thing, you would have realized how important those aspects of the movie were.

I would liken in to ceasing to read Thomas Covenant after the rape of Lena because it was "ikky"

We rented this but if seen in the theatre, we would have walked out. As it was, we rewound (rewind.....blast from the past!) it after about 45 minutes and didn't finish it. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Blair Witch was somewhat hokey, but it scared the bejeebers out of me. I saw it with a friend of mine, and we both leaned against my truck and shook for about 5 minutes before we were able to get to the bar.

Heh, I'm sure I've said this before, but here I go again: Half of Blair Witch Project was filmed in Seneca Creek State Park just down the road from me. It just wasn't that creepy when all we wanted to shout was "Turn left at that tree and you'll get to the road!" The end was kinda cool, though.

OK folks, I just saw the worst movie ever.....Alone in the Dark with Christian Slater. Horrible. What could have been a relatively interesting movie (it's got a decent premise, sort of a cross between Aliens and the X-Files), is a horribly written, horribly acted mess.

The only waste of money that I remember spending on a movie
was when I seen "Open Water".
The beginning was boring and the rest of the movie was just two people
bobbing in the water, talking to each other.
(I walked out about 15 minutes into the movie)

Hey Cail you forgot (pre-jail) Untamed Heart! That was great! Slater was good in Windtalkers...then again...he didn't have the biggest role...(There was an interesting movie with him and 3 or 4 well known actors called Very Bad Things about a group of friends who go to Vegas and kill a hooker by accident, or some such, and then try to cover it up.) Kuffs and Hard Rain really stunk tho...
