Now I'll grant you that I havent seen In the Mouth of Madness since it was in the theater, but I just remember thinking "Man, John Carpenter's lost it". The story was horribly disjointed, Sam Neill's acting reminded me of a 2x4, and the effects were cheesy. I will admit, looking at it on IMDB, I seem to be in the minority, so it may warrant a re-watch (but my wife's gonna kill me 'cause she really,
really hated it).
I understood the point of Event Horizon, it just wasn't executed well. Paul WS Anderson (to me) has never been, and will never be a good director (but I do give him credit for good set design).
